Ok, now I have a problem. Just recently, I pulled the bike out of the garage to inspect before i took a trip to austin last weekend. As I was cleaning it and inspecting the engine, I notice something amiss. the back stud and nut for the front Exhaust pipe was missing. I exploded, WTF??!!
I just fixed something on the left crankcase the night before! I worked all night to get the bike ready!! now this. this is one of the worse things that can happen as a bike owner. I busted stud stuck in the head.
So I bought so EZ-out, not sure if I was confident it would work.
The EZ-out went in, buit didnt come back out....AAARRGGHH!! Broke off inside the stud....it's now way to hard to drill through, at least I dont have any bits that will drill through.
I guess now I need to find a machine shop to drill it out and retap the threads. I have the replacement parts coming.
Anyone know of a machine shop in houston that could do this? or at least in the dickinson area? I am at a loss, the dealerships wont do them. Unless I am replacing the head...Not an option!
Any ideas?

Forrest

@Forest
Is the ez out carbide? If so you can shatter it with a high speed steel aircraft drill bit. Make a point by grinding the drill. Smack on it. If it isn't carbide I have a few carbide drills that I bought to drill out the crank bolt that broke off in angelas car. Cut through the crank bolt like butter.
Pm me for more info.

Not sure I have to look. It was recommended to me by the guys at the Lowes store. Also, the more expensive ez out kit as well. the drill part cut into the stud with no problems. I used a electric reverseable drill to pull it out. it didnt break right off. I have carbide drills and I saw some titanium at Lowes. Is that going to be hard enough. I may have to take it in to the dealer and see if they can extract it. I just dont have time any more.

The new fair weather commuter - 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000

Just finished getting it tuned - did 140whp on a Factory Pro eddy current dyno at 10400 RPM.

Lofts the front end in the air in the first 3 gears just twisting the throttle. It's a freaking blast.

Waaaa? I am not posting lap times. I have never been to this track and I know there are some TXIC locals down that way so I figure why not ask?

I will be in level 1 hoping I covered my brake issue.

Yep, they really nailed the engine characteristics on these. There is so much usable horsepower/torque on the Z1000/Ninja 1000 that it's a total hoot... If you're feeling lazy, you can putt around and know that there's no need to even downshift when you need to pass someone.

I stole this from my bike club forum. If you would please email the committee members your thoughts on this subject.

I realize as an organization we avoid politics. This post is just a heads up in case you would like to send emails to your Texas Senator and the members of the key committee. I have also posted my letter. Feel free to use all or part as you see fit.

I don't know if you are aware of this pending bill or not, but the meeting of the Senate Transportation on Saturday 5/21/11 will be the last chance to get this bill killed. It's already passed in the house. The Senate meeting is the last chance. The bill specifically targets sport bikes and goes so far to exclude any other style of motorcycle.

Send letters to your Senator and the Senate Transportation Committee members now. The committee members include:

Tommy Williams (Chairman):http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...ist4/dist4.htm
Kirk Watson: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...t14/dist14.htm
Jeff Wentworth: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...t25/dist25.htm
Wendy Davis: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...t10/dist10.htm
Rodney Ellis: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...t13/dist13.htm
Chris Harris: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...ist9/dist9.htm
Juan Hinojosa: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...t20/dist20.htm
Robert Nichols: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...ist3/dist3.htm
Florence Shapiro: http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/Se...ist8/dist8.htm

Here's a copy of the bill:

By: Phillips H.B. No. 2470

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the regulation of sport bikes.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. This Act shall be known as Malorie's Law.
SECTION 2. Section 521.084, Transportation Code, is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 521.084. CLASS M LICENSE. A Class M driver's license authorizes the holder of the license to operate a motorcycle, including a sport bike as defined by Section 541.201, or a moped.
SECTION 3. Section 541.201, Transportation Code, is amended by adding Subdivision (18-a) to read as follows:
(18-a) "Sport bike" means a motorcycle:
(A) that is optimized for speed, acceleration, braking, and maneuverability on paved roads;
(B) that has a light-weight frame;
(C) on which the rider leans forward over the gas tank; and
(D) is not a touring, cruiser, standard, or dual-sport motorcycle.
SECTION 4. Subchapter I, Chapter 545, Transportation Code, is amended by adding Section 545.4161 to read as follows:
Sec. 545.4161. OPERATION OF SPORT BIKE. (a) In addition to the requirements and prohibitions under Section 545.416, an operator may not carry another person on a sport bike unless the sport bike is designed to carry more than one person, and unless:
(1) the operator:
(A) is at least 18 years of age; and
(B) has had a Class M license for at least two years; or
(2) the other person:
(A) is at least 18 years of age and holds a Class M license; or
(B) is a motorcycle operator training and safety course instructor certified under Chapter 662.
(b) An operator of a sport bike shall ensure that a passenger on the sport bike complies with all department regulations relating to motorcycle safety.
SECTION 5. The heading to Subchapter M, Chapter 547, Transportation Code, is amended to read as follows:
SUBCHAPTER M. ADDITIONAL OR ALTERNATIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR MOTORCYCLES, [AND] MOTOR-DRIVEN CYCLES, AND SPORT BIKES
SECTION 6. Subchapter M, Chapter 547, Transportation Code, is amended by adding Section 547.803 to read as follows:
Sec. 547.803. SPORT BIKE SAFETY EQUIPMENT. If a sport bike is designed to carry more than one person, the sport bike must be equipped with foot pegs and handholds for use by a passenger on the sport bike.
SECTION 7. Section 661.001(1), Transportation Code, is amended to read as follows:
(1) "Motorcycle" means a motor vehicle designed to propel itself with not more than three wheels in contact The term includes a sport bike, as defined by Section 541.201. The term does not include a tractor or a three-wheeled vehicle equipped with a cab or occupant compartment, seat, and seat belt and designed to contain the operator in the cab or occupant compartment.
SECTION 8. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011.

******************
My email

The requirements as set forth in H.B. No. 2470 should not be applied to the type of motorcycle someone rides, but to ALL motorcycle operators and model design. Targeting someone's preference for a particular style of motorcycle does nothing more than to give enforcement authorities free rein to harrass certain motorcyclists just because of their purchase choice. In short, it gives them an excuse to pull over any sporty-looking motorcycle (in their opinion) to check the operator's license and age.

Additionally, the definition given for a 'sport bike' is so general as to include any and all motorcycles. In fact, the motorcycling community and the manufacturers have so often blurred the lines that arguements are frequent as to which model belongs in which category. Just check out Ducati's new Diavel (cruiser/sportbike) or BMW's new K1600GT (touring/sportbike), for example.

Sincerely,
*************

Traded the dirtbike for a mileage saver/pit bike.

2 stroke with a 70cc kit, so far 51mph 2 up, with 100mpg.
Only bad thing is all the jokes at work I hear for riding a scooter. They would mean more if anyone that talked **** could actually use a motorcycle for it's intended purpose.

I have an '02 FZ1, I mostly use it for trips to the Hill Country or going to Eureka Springs. I don't like to ride in the city very often anymore, it's just too dangerous with people talking/texting all the time while driving...
