Bummer - I must have gotten a differently-made harness then. There is definitely not enough wire to get there.

black thingamabob (relay socket) similar to the one used on the subimods harness, cleans the install up a lot.

olazy, where did you pick that up at? I'm thinking soon I will want to rewire mine and I used liquid electrical tape to create a waterproof seal around the relay and the Subimods connector. Currently everything is hidden well, but I'd like to do a better job.

The Subimods wire harness was great, but it is disappointing that the relay won't reach the engine bay.

i bought it off amazon, 5 wire relay socket. i'm making my own harness, not sure how comfortable you are but you could try to solder a longer wire to reach further.

for those of you with the subimods wiring harness, do you only have 1 ring connector for ground, i'm trying to see if it's ok to combine the horn ground to the relay ground.

also where are you guys grounding? directly too the negative terminal on the battery or somewhere on the frame?

There was only one ring connector for the ground with the kit.

I wired it to the negative terminal on the battery. I guess I just assumed it would be ok - hopefully no one tells me otherwise!

I want the sound of hella horns but I've always hated how they look behind the grill.
Can you just mount them in the stock horn locations?

You'd see them in the stock horn locations. Im sure you could mount them in a hidden place though.

the factory horn is visible from the grille but yeah, you can mount them where ever you want as long as you can figure away to mount them. although the grille allows better projection because it's unblocked. i didn't really like the flashiness of the horns either, that's why i painted them black.

thanks rmj for the responsing to my questions.

How? Is the stock horn not loud enough? Just seems rediculous and a waste to me.

I had people not responding to my stock horns about 40% of the time. Now they definitely hear it

I can attest to what he said that is how i installed mine, not only did i not have to remove the bumper i also didn't need the relay since the car already has one and a fuse so just hook up to factory horn wire.

You know, I used to feel the same way you do ... that is until I recently needed to hit my horn to warn someone who was changing lanes into me.

Long story short, the horn sucks and is way to quiet ... like it belongs in one of those European tiny cars.

This mod is now on my list for the near future.

For the life of me I cannot remove the nut on the back to remove the already attached brackets. Anyone else have trouble removing the nut? I have a bracket simliar to the subimods brackes (but much, much cheaper) to use.

Yea was pretty hard for me the first time, doing it by hand was a no go. I use a bench vise and some WD40 which helped alot.

Stupid question... When push the lock button twice, normally the horn toots.

So when you 'double lock' the car, do the Hellas toot?
