Ok guys bare with me as this is my first review of a part and pics were taken with my iPhone.
First we will start with the pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see it is a nice looking header. I wrapped it with dei titanium wrap and used safety wire to secure the wrap. I opted not to wrap the individual tubes due to time constraints and working with a broken right arm. I only had to use one 50' roll to do both the uppipe and header. Be prepared for fiberglass like shards all over your arms.... Wear gloves. The installation was fairly straight forward, the hardest parts for me was wrapping it and removing the old cracked eBay one piece header that the p.o. Had on the car. This header does not have a place for the 02 sensor or an egt sensor. After talking with Cobb tuning I put the front 02 sensor in my Cobb down pipe right after the turbo. The fit is pretty good it only took a little bit a finagling to get the header lined up with the new twin tube uppipe. Remember to install the uppipe first. I used a factory uppipe gasket and factory studs that I got from Cobb tuning Plano. It comes with real nice 5 layer gaskets for the heads and uppipe. It also comes with all hardware, but I was felt more comfortable using factory studs. My first impressions: the car is a lot quieter. No more drone driving 70 down the highway. The car feels a lot smoother. Being an EL header it does change the sound, but don't worry it sounds awesome and not honda like at all. My car laid down 418whp and 401wtq at 22.83 psi a month ago at Cobb tuning Plano mustang dyno with the old set up. It will be going back on real soon for a touch up and to see if I gained any power over the old onepeice UEL eBay header. I will be sure to get a vid so you can hear how it sounds. To BE CONTINUED.......

I have not been back to the dyno yet...
I am in the middle of changing my inlet to an amr hard inlet, doing tgv deletes and tgv and manifold porting. Also installing kstech 9.5mn phenolic spacers. So my results may be screwed due to the added mods. I will tell you that boost comes on nearly 250rpms sooner and the sound is alot mellower. From inside the car the first thing you'll notice is that there is no more highway drone. All my friends say that they like the sound alot better, but I have yet to here it drive off from the outside. I did have my manifold to uppipe gasket blow out recently due to a little ill fitment. But so far I am happy with it considering the price. |

I've got the popcorn out too... Just waiting on a few parts to show up and hopefully finish her up this weekend.
Then it will just be when Cobb tuning can fit me in. |

Yeah!!! The header has been doing great, I've got
My car all back together and it will be on Cobb tuning Plano tx dyno on Tuesday nov 1. So I will have numbers and a video of how it sounds. Just keep in mind last time I was tuned I made 418whp and 401wtq but I changed a few things other than the header for this tune Replaced silicon 3" inlet with an amr hard inlet Preformed tgv deletes and porting Ported intake manifold Kstech air pump delete Kstech 9.5mm intake spacers Added intercooler water spray to front mount Replaced cracked megan racing header with BATLground 1.5 scroll Megan racing header was from the p.o and it is junk. Even if I make no additional power over the last header, I still prefer this one better, I love how much quiter the car is and that I have no drone cruising at 75mph on the highway. And I feel like the turbo is spooling faster (dom3xtr 10cm2 and 3" inlet) Just for reference here are the power mods on the car. Built engine 100mm mahle pistons Stock sti rods Acl race bearings Arp rod bolts Arp head studs Arp case bolts BC valve springs BC retainers BC 272 cams Dom3xtr 10cm2 3" inlet Perrin stealth fmic Act street light flywheel Act 6 puck unsprung clutch Cobb light crank pulley Cobb catted turbo back Batlground 1.5 scroll header Amr hard inlet 3" Cobb big maf intake Stock bov Kstech 9.5 mm spacers Tgv deletes and ported Ported stock intake mani Deatwerks 1100cc top feed injectors Cobb ap There may be other power mods but I can think of them off the top of my head. |

I will post it up as soon as it is in my possession.
I'm really hoping for more power and quicker spool up with all the work and $$ I just spent on it. Also last tune was 93oct at 22.86psi This tune will also be 93oct |

Newest run.
![]() Old run from previous set up ![]() These runs were both in 3rd gear 07 sti. I was told my amr inlet caused a loss in power and my other recent changes made up for the loss in power from changing my silicon 3"inlet to the amr inlet because of the more dramatic direction Change at the front of the turbo. But I'm still happy |

No I'm Gonna leave the AMR inlet on because overall it did a lot better than the silicone 3 inch inlet that was on there before the silicone one kept wanting to slip off the turbo was causing issues..

I guess I don't understand how the AMR is causing such problem. Comparison pics of the 2?
TGVs at this power level are usually good for +10-15whp and I would have thought the header would be doing more. Eye balling the dyno plots (an overlay would be nice to see) it looks like the old setup made more power, larger area under the curve. Peak numbers on the new setup are slightly better, but the old setup shows better spool with power sooner and it carries it later further into the revs. This is what makes the car faster not the peak numbers. That being said, dyno plots don't tell the entire story and if you're happy with it, that's all that matters ![]()

Well.... The old setup was not a stock header.
The reason the amr inlet is losing power is because of the turbulence created right at the before the turbo. The silicon inlet had a smother and straighter path to the turbo, with just an indention from the tgv housing. Where the amr one shifts over on both sides and I could not get on with our a slight crease at the top. I don't recommend 3" inlet stock location turbos to anyone, I think on the bench the flow more but not once installed on the car. Why didnt they just make a 2.75" inlet turbo, to me it seams like it would be the best compromise. On the street the car actually feels a lot smoother, and if you look at the low boost tune, it makes more power. I'm just going to enjoy this setup for a while and hopefully problem free, while I build a stronger motor and gather parts to go rotated. I just don't feel like it makes any sense to put a turbo larger than a 20g in the stock location. But before all that I'm gonna add a carbon drive shaft, stereo. And 08+sti bbs wheels. |
