Good stuff man. I high centered in a Snow drift (ended up being 3 1/2ft with the truck centered (wheels off ground by 8inches of snow) on about 2 1/2ft and it ended up being a nightmare. Oh well, I had fun though.

I got to test my new Falken winter tires today.. Boy do they suck!

I wish I would have spent the extra money on another set of Yokohama Ice Guards or WS70's.

Partial throttle and I am all over the place. Granted I do have more power at the wheels now compared to last year.

Put on my new Winter wheel/tire set I got from the Tire Rack. I got Enkei Imola 17x7.5 wheels with Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D 225/45R17 94V tires. I like it so far!

Default Snow tire time

So it was 36 this AM. Thinking it may be time to swap out the summer tires for the blizzaks. What do you think? I'm in Cleveland.

I was thinking the same thing. 37 in Milwaukee. The manager at a local tire shop told me you want to wait until it's "consistenly 40 or below" so not to wear out the blizzaks. That's pretty difficult in Wisconsin seeing as how we can be freezing one day and 60 the next. I'm thinking I'm gonna do it tomorrow though, the summer tires are getting really hard in this cold and I'd rather put a little more wear on the blizzaks for safety's sake.

Winter rims / all seasons will be going on in the next week for me. Not great in the snow but tons better than wide summer performance tires (245s vs 215s)

We switched over last weekend on the wrx and switching the FIT this weekend.
With the wrx we had to as the tires slid around in the morning.

its not even close to snowing yet. just hold your horses and wait until december at least. hell, it isn't even cold outside yet.

if it snows by thanksgiving i will be heartily surprised. im not even close to being ready to switch yet. gonna run these 18s until i get everything squared away and then switch over...

They are winter tires, not snow tires. So when it gets into the 50s on a regular basis, that's when you're supposed to switch.
Mid october is the recommended time to switch over to winter tires.

i was always told that it was supposed to be consistently freezing temperatures and below as to not wear them like crazy. ill stick to that notion considering unless it starts snowing my all seasons will be just fine.

When the weather is consistently 40-50 deg F is the time to switch. I am running summer tires and switching to all seasons so that's the reason why I am switching so early.

They aren't snow tires, they're winter tires... Look around a bit, people may differing opinions in the temperature - some saying freezing, I've heard 40, others say 50... but regardless, snow being on the ground has nothing to do with the timing of when to put on WINTER tires.

Personally, I found myself putting them on around Thanksgiving and taking them off around April.

Hope the weather holds out that long. Think that is going to be the first weekend for me that I can get my swap done.

I run ultra high performance all seasons (I know) so I'm good there. I did mount up my snowboard attachments to my roof rack yesterday and my RA flaps should be here today. Bring on the snow!

I took off my Goodyear F1 GS-D3 summer tires this morning, putting on my ContiExtreme DWS all-seasons. Last winter was the first for these tires and I was very happy with them. The Goodyear's are down to the wear bars so next spring they will be replaced with Michelin Pilot SuperSports.
