Love the idea of 2500lbs and a Subaru motor. But I don't think 200hp will be enough to pull me away from my WRX. 32 mpg sounds pretty freaking good though..

I own a 2006 sti and im looking for more power not less and I think other wrx and sti owners would agree.

But yes the 2500lbs sounds great as well as having the lowest center of gravity than any other car.

I think it looks sick. It would be fun to drive a rwd subie, looks like it would be a fun drift car since it is a subaru and toyato collaboration based off of the Hachi Roku or for those of you who do not know what that is its the Toyota AE-86. I do have to say a turbo should be added though as that would definitly up the "fun" factor.

I like the looks can't wait to see how it handle. So far so good but it's all in the performance for me after the looks.

Why are some of you asking for a 300hp, 2500lb, RWD car??? Most people in the demographics for buying this thing can barely handle a 300hp, 3300lb, AWD car.

I think the current specs are almost spot on for a perfect production car. Even if it ends up being 2800lbs. Looks pretty, power is reasonable, good gas mileage.

200hp with 2500 lbs and RWD would be on par with a WRX or faster, with infinitely better handling.

agreed with twinky^ lol @ all the clowning on rwd/no turbo. This car isn't meant to compete, or replace the sti, but ad more variety and be an addition the the already stacked line-up. Who wouldn't want a rwd car, from two RELIABLE companies?

Definitely deviates from Subaru's normal philosophy for performance, but pretty exciting I think.

The guys that are thinking "Miata like" but with super low CG have the right idea. I think this car would probably be a hoot to drive. The fact that Motortrend is actually test driving camouflage version of this on the street makes me believe this might actually be pretty close to what might be production. It would be pretty amazing if the car reached production with a weight of only 2500lbs The car might get heavier before production, but I'm sure Subaru/Toyota will add some more thrust if that's the case. As long as they keep the weight down low (CG and amount wise) like it appears their trying to do, the cars going to be a blast to drive.

with todays safety features and creature comfort i highly doubt this thing is going to be 2500lbs, unless they make it more spartan which i doubt.. as far as power goes, sure this thing is going to be a dream on the twisty and corners but with low tq you would have to rev the engine more like honda to get it going,and when your not in the corners your going to wish for 300hp and more tq, thats the problem with na low displacement, no matter how much technology advances the physics line can be pushed so far, with gas engines anyway..

and for all the people who say we shouldnt be complaining about power, if there were 2 versions youll be taking this one as opposed to a 300hp turbo awd tq monster version?

Yes, but thats because I would want this car as a 400-450hp rwd. The design of this car isnt for awd especially with how much higher the engine would sit you would raise the center of gravity and in turn its handling abilities would be lost. I am gonna have to stop dumping as much money into my sti to save for this car.

With 200 HP pushing 1.25 tons (2500lbs), that's 160 Hp/ton. The S2000 is 165 hp/ton (2863 lbs, 237hp). Sounds good to me. Except maybe that the 350z's are pushing 179.7hp/ton. And while I like the styling of the BRZ, I would probably go with a Z at this point.

If it does come..I plan to campaign it in STR Class for SOLO2 Autocross to go up against the S2000 and Miaters'...

But the Z is just shy of 2 tons and is a 6 cylinder so its in a different class of car than the BRZ.

I'm betting it falls in between the Miata and S2k. STR needs another contender to make it even more exciting, but that's a entirely different subject at this early of a stage.
