Congratulations to all who made it through the driest December on record. I know it was hard but, we made it!
![]() What a disappointment, I look forward to winter every year, snowboarding, drifting on snowy roads, selling yellow snow at my lemonade stand, ect... this year its like never ending fall, I saw someone mowing there lawn this month, I was like WTF mate its January!Utah Climatic Summary December 2011 http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/slc/climate/...ic_Summary.pdf (Scroll down to page 3)![]() I blame Al Gore and his man bear pig. ![]() I think it will snow and when it does it will dump, hopefully this season and not in April. I noticed Fircrest put on his summer tires, I might do the same.

Unless you ski or snowboard, snow sucks. I don't mind fresh snow, but I definitely do not like snow that is left on roads and in parking lots that turns to hard pack then ice. I also do not like that no one can drive in snow. Snow in the evening generally turns my 30 minute commute home into 2 hours. I can definitely pass on that.

I'm really thinking of putting my summer tires back on this weekend, might go up into the mountains East of Heber just to mess around in the snow one more time lol. I have a feeling its not going to improve and when it does it'll just be rain/slush

Yeah I've shoveled my driveway once this year and it wasn't really necessary! Love it! FWIW it's all my fault guys, I decided to skip on a season pass this year and well you see what has happened...

Don't get me started, this has been the ****tiest ski season I can ever remember. I spent my 11 days off from work sitting on my ass with cabin fever because there's no snow at the resorts. I'm glad I didn't buy a season pass.

Its la nina this year, just like last year.
The diffrence being a high pressure sits in our way sending all storms north or south of us. Once it goes away, death by snowstorms. http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories...eroutlook.html Quote:
Obviously it snows here, in fact Utah winters are fairly mild compared to anywhere north. Yea it snows but at least its not Minnesota cold or the 800"+ Alaska gets. We need snow for water sustainability not just Utah but everyone down stream, it all begins with snow pack. This is a desert climate and we rely on mountain snow pack. If you hate snow you must hate life, snow is water, water is life. Nothing lives without water. Last edited by Whattheo; 01-06-2012 at 01:11 PM. |

Guys, guys, guys....guys... if it doesn't snow we're all going to die. The Mayans were right, they predicted that Utah would not get the best snow season in 2012, it will snowball into a cataclysm and life would cease in December....and the harbinger of these end times is Mr. Biggie, the man who stopped the snow, because he hates life.

I'm with Biggie. Racing and golfing are my favorite. I didn't get cabin fever because I was out golfing everyday. Finally, my kind of winter (and yes, winter sucks for me, except Snowcross, when it's snowing).
Also, the inversions are so much nicer without snow on the valley floor. The snow starts to evaporate and causes the clouds. So how about rain in the valley, snow in the mountains? |

Ideally it would rain in the valley and snow in the mountains and the Great Salt Lake would be the ocean. Surfing big waves and Snowboarding in triple nipple deep powder in the same day is my dream come true.

Why do I live here? Elevation... It is obvious that global climate change is happening, and soon coastal areas will be under water. At 4200' I'm safe as a bug in a run, along with less snow, more rain, warmer winters and cooler summers... The SLC will be a pretty nice place to live in a few years. ![]() |
