Hey does anyone know if a p0037 code will cause avcs not to work?
Still trying to get them to work.

I wired in the harness and I don't have any other CEO's.

I'm not logging it yet, but I'm assuming that I would feel an increase in power and response.

Also, so you have to be WOT for them to work? Or will they work with part throttle?

Anything else I can do to troubleshoot it?

i would assume at throttle postion it should be working. i would have to look at a graph of it in a tune to see. which i dont have yet....... i lied, just download a 01sti v7 map. the map depends on the engine load, rpm, and the z axis is timing so i guess any rpm/throttle angle. do you have a tactrix?

No, no tatrix, but I think I should get one.

I just want to make sure everything is ready to go before the tune.

you should def buy one since all the programs are free. then if you need to make small changes you dont need to go to your tuner. seasonal changes in the midwest atleast makes for small changes in boost control and afr's to be changed a few times throughout the year. it also is nice to do learning views once in a while as well.

Hey folks,
I put a V8 207 into my 04 WRX last night. When I plugged in my ECU my fuel pump never primed. The motor would turn, but I guess my question is:

Isn't the harness a direct swap aside from the little bit I have to do with the IA Performance harness to get the AVCS running?

Thanks!

possibly bad ecu. seen this twice now in the past two months. go back to the fuel pump and check for power at the terminals. if no power then the ecu is prob shot.

Not quite shure what the difference is between these two IA wire harnesses or which I need. 02 wrx, v8 ecu/motor any input would be helpful.

Just Call Stephen in the morning and talk to him about what you have exactly with that motor and he will help you.

If you have a 02-05 wrx with the wrx wiring harness, then add the jdm ej207 engine with ej207 harness and the ecu then you need the bulkhead wiring kit. the other wire kit you posted is ppl using the usdm engine harness on the jdm engine. like if they had a shortblock and used usdm parts to complete the engine.

I have a usdm wrx bulkhead harness and a usdm wrx engine harness. Your example is what I am doing. I purchased a v8 jdm 207 longblock bare and am swapping my usdm parts onto it. I will be running a v8 207 sti ecu.

okay you need both of the iaperf harness's then. one wires up the usdm tgv wires to the avcs and the five dollar more ones addes the wires needed for avcs to function with the jdm ecu.

I did a v7 swap and had the same problem...i checked everything. it all came back to the ecu. I hooked up the old wrx ecu and flashed a 207 map onto it and she started right away. Then got a new ecu from the place of purchase as i had proof it was the ecu not me.
I also made my own wiring harness...not hard at all and works with no problems.

It really sucks that you were right... but good all at the same time. Couldn't connect via Tactrix cable... at all. tried a couple different things, was able to start up with my 04 ECU. Ran like ****, but luckily a friend's car is down (That's kinda screwed up to say that isn't it?) and let me borrow his while I get it worked out with the shipping company to get things straightened out. I hope I don't have to end up just buying one. That would suck.

Up and running now sans AVCS. The stock setup is like 10x better than my hybrid I just replaced.

Anyhow, thanks for the heads up, you can add mine to the junk ECU bin.

Im 99% sure they are. tons of ppl do these swaps without a problem. Then for some reason the ecu takes a **** on shipment and first sign is no fuel pump priming. i sold my ecu to a guy locally that had his usdm one go after a bad cobb AP flash onto the car so it got bricked. unless i missed the reading on switching ign and fuel pump wires at the ecu plugs pretty sure its plug and play minus avcs.

White,
Did you try to get a hold of Erik? He may be able to help you out.

I'm doing my tune on Wednesday and everything looks to be good to go, though I still have a nasty rattle that I can't figure out where its coming from.

It is only audible inside the cabin and I didn't have the rattle before. It is really hard to tell where its coming from.

Any ideas of where to look for possible rattles? It's audible from
1000 rpms up to about 4000 rpms. It rattles regardless of clutch position. Though it does sound like its coming from the same area as release bearing. Transmission area.

Welll. I asked this a little while back (sorta) but it must have gotten passed over.

I've got a V7 EJ207 full swap in my RS. Its still got the VF30 and, at my altitude, Im getting 240whp/240tq out of it (tuned by Airboy). As usual, I'd like to go bigger. For a while, I was considering an 18g, but why half-ass it? So Im trying to decide between the GTX3071R and the Dom 1.5XTR. Both seem to be about the same range of turbo and I've heard good things about both of them on the EJ207.

My question is, which one? The Dom 1.5XTR is a little bit cheaper, but is the 3071 any better? Is it better enough to justify the added expense? They say the Dom was build for the EDM 2.0L STI engine and the JDM one is better, however Clark said he loves the 3071 on this motor.

Talking to Blouch, they said they expect the 1.5XTR to hit full spool around the low 4000rpm range. Of course, this is at sea level and Im at 3500ft. I haven't been able to find much in terms of the new 3071 on an EJ207.

In terms of power goals, I'd be thrilled with 340-360whp. I've got an HFS-6 that I can also install, but if the turbo alone can get me close to that goal without a crazy amount of lag, then Ill just sell the HFS-6.

Thanks in Advance.

Just follow the DS1 instructions, get your shielded wire from homedepot/lowes. Push out and resolder the TGV pins.

Wow didnt realize elevation killed power that much. come down the mountain and prob blow the damn engine up lol. More than likely you will have to look at them on nonjdm ej20's in the proven power board. i have no experience with either. I have heard alot about the 3071 on the jdm ej207's though. Im guessing with the flow of either one they should get you to your goal.

Yeah, generally the range i've been seeing for a Stage 2 ej207 with the VF30 is about 240-270whp. Altitude just happens to make me spool later and make less power.

Since my last tune, I've installed a Hallman MBC in parallel with my Prodrive EBCS. I did that to stop me from overboosting to 22ish psi (im tuned to 19.5psi peak) but theoretically, it would allow me to run slightly more aggressive WGDC and would help me spool. We'll see when I get my next tune.

I've also got UEL headers waiting to be installed but no point until I get the new turbo.

As far as going down in elevation, I've done several trips to Vancouver and it's fine. I definitely spool faster down there though.

What've you heard about the 3071 on an EJ207? Any graphs?

Basically, Im not worried about reaching the power goals with these two turbos... but im terrified of installing them to find that im not spooling until 5k.

White,
You will have to re-pin regardless.
It is very easy, just go slow and easy on the ECU pins, they are a birch.

You can make your own, it would not be that difficult but you would have to source the pins.

Honestly I would just buy the iaperformance, they will also be able to help you through any problems.
