Are you sure it wasn't the hour of operation notice? For every hour the car is on it displays on the screen. It's mentioned in the manual. If I could shut it off I would, because I don't see much point in the car getting my attention that I've been driving for an hour.

Actually back in Dec I was going to pull the trigger on a Sport Limited but looking at MPG revies by other owners made me decide to wait on the side lines.

I am really leaning towards a Mazda 3 Hatch with the SkyActiv, yes it has no AWD but it gets 40 mpg, Xenon lighting/fun to drive/better color combo's. (white/black) , though it has slightly less interior space vs. the subbie but above all , 6spd manual/automatic (better than a cvt no?) .

Can you convince me otherwise? I really do like the subbie but I have a hard timing convincing myself to get this.......
check your insurance cost. I was leaning towards Mazda until I checked with gecko and saw that Mazda would cost me an extra 240 per year to insure.

saw one and it was really hard to even notice the gray. The real difference is going to be the interior color.

I really don't have this problem; I keep thinking it must be an issue with your car alone. Has the dealer opened up the door to check it out? All my past Subarus would have some moisture on the window when you roll it down and back up, but nothing significant (like it sounds like you are experiencing).

I haven't been able to check my 2012 Impreza windows, but my 99 Civic windows had moisture when you rolled them down then back up . I've driven my Civic for almost 13 years and it's always exhibited this and I haven't had any "problems" caused by it.

Exclamation First oil change - caution

Just completed the first oil change on my 2.0 Premium Hatchback. Very easy to accomplish - but after I removed the filter, I wiped around where the filter's gasket would seal against the housing with a paper towel. The housing is very sharp - sharp enough to cut through the paper towel and my finger!

Just went to the Chicago Auto Show, asked the Subaru rep if it was just at this show, he replied that they were offering the $250 voucher via email at the Milwaukee show next week too.... It doesn't hurt to try it at the Cleveland show.

I think it's a questionable idea to use the internet in making a final car buying decision. Sure there are some things you may want to make rational decisions about. For example over years of ownership, or tens of thousands of miles, fuel economy and depreciation can have an impact on total cost of ownership. I think the internet is good for narrowing down the field of car choices and understanding expected purchase price. When it comes to actually selecting which exact car to buy, my opinion is that it's a better idea to get in the cars, do a lot of test driving, and choose the one you personally prefer. On that note, I consider the Mazda 3 a strong contender for cheapest compact interior.

I also trust the EPA fuel economy numbers a lot more than I trust happenstance internet forum reports. Just because people here aren't getting 30mpg doesn't mean the car is overrated by the EPA.

What color interior do you want? THe all black only comes with ivory interior, the black on gray only comes with the black interior.

Door moisture: every car I've ever removed a door window from had rubber window gaskets lined with felt. It's quite normal to get water streaks when rolling a window up if the gaskets are wet. Ask anyone who is OCD about cleaning their car frequently, they know not to roll the windows down after cleaning them.

Not sure, as my new Impreza hasn't arrived yet so I haven't seen it. But, I don't think it's a glitch of any kind, as my 335i does the same thing at 37 degrees (actually, a pinging sound), as did the 3 series I had before that. I always figured it was an early warning for freezing temps.

That is to warn you of possible ice on the road. Notionally it should be 32 degrees but given the variance in air temps outside, it warns you by flashing the "37 degree".

My BMWs and my minivan all chime or show "ICE" at 38 degrees to give you some warning that pockets of cold, ground-hugging air may cause ice so be careful. This may be a similar feature?

Back from a 230 mile round trip from Philly. Averaged 30 MPG the whole way and only used half a tank! Was much better than getting 20 MPG with the X5 or 24 MPG with the X6. I'm being good and putting down our BMW's, you see? Saw my first 2012 Impreza on the road in Chinatown too.

I've had the 37*F warning flash too. It is the same on our BMW's with a ping sound. As others have stated, it sounds as there is a chance that black ice can form at this temperature.

Well, just got back from a local Subaru dealer..come March 9th I will officially have joined the club!

Waiting for my 2012 5spd Sport Premium in Dark Gray Metallic to arrive.
Was able to get the car at dealer cost. Can not wait for it to arrive. I will be transitioning from my 99 Audi A4 Quattro. This is my first new car

I'll post pics in the gallery thread once she is all mine!

One question I forgot to ask dealer, is the rear spoiler included in my model or is it extra like the sport mesh grille (which I plan on eventually getting). Thanks. I gotta make it to the Cleveland Auto Show in the meantime to get that $250 coupon from SOA to add to my down payment.

Longest 3 weeks of my life ahead of me.

So its normal in sunny Florida to wash my car and three days later the windows are still coming up soaking wet??? Maybe you guys can live with that but for 20k I sure expect it to be put together well enough to not do this.
SomebodyElse had water pour out of his factory speakers. Is that normal? None of my old vws did this. Nor my jeeps.

Default Hitch Installation

The Draw-Tite hitch from eTrailer.com arrived in a couple days. Installation was much easier than I expected. There was no need to remove the muffler hangers as the instructions said. The rear mounting holes did need to be elongated on the frame. Easy fix with a air or die grinder.

I did need to modify my Yakima bike rack because it did not fit far enough into the receiver before bottoming out.

Just washed my car today and noticed that when I opened my doors, water came out of the weep holes. This is normal, water has to go somewhere when it falls down inside the door.

Will see how long the windows get wet when I roll them down and up.

On a side note, for all those that have the CVT transmission, is there a light 'click' near the shift knob when you come to a stop? Trying to figure out if this is normal. For me to replicate it, all i have to do is accelerate for a second or so then brake. When the car is almost stopped, there is a small click noise near the knob.

But it shouldn't still be wet with streaks for nearly 48 hrs after washing your car.

No one is saying that EPA tests have overstated the mileage these cars get. However in the other two mileage threads it goes into detail about what the new EPA (post 2008) testing standards are & most drivers are not driving in those conditions this time of year, nor at this speeds. We're just pointing out that for some other models are hitting MPGs closer to the EPA ratings than some of us are with the 2012 Impreza. We've been using fuelly to track it & we are clearly not a big representation of what everyone is getting nationally, but from our sampling the numbers are disappointing.

Would I rely on this forum alone to decide on whether or not to buy the car - probably not. But seeing as how MPG was the BIGGEST factor in me waiting for the '12 to come out I am not thrilled about it & wish I had seen some real numbers before deciding. I'm gonna hold off on judgement though until it's warmer.

I love my car & it's still a vast improvement over my last gas guzzler.
