It's possible I missed it, but I didn't see a breakdown on the VF46. I just saw mention of the 5-arc feature. I'm curious how it stacks up against the VF52, flow rates, etc.

something that would kick (major) butt for me at least would be an ihi vf-docoder ring, ie i know we have a vf-39, but how about a vf-34, vf-30, and so on.what is some other info you guys would like posted??
im gonna try to post wether the kits need a custom fmic and how much that particular charges for it.. also if they are direct drop it or rotated.. and if they are complete kit or need some fabrication.. anything else??

Default turbo brand names

hi i'm new here and looking into upgrading my turbo, funny enough i dont have an impreza, what's up with all the different turbo brand names?

i've seen a number of different manufacturers for the td05 big 16g [godspeed, blouch, tomioka] and all the prices are drastically different.

so all said my question does all the fancy names make a difference or is a turbo a turbo?

hope this makes sense.

thanks

usually the price differences are just like anything else. the higher priced ones use better and more durable parts, and the cheaper priced ones use less durable and cheaper chinese parts. sometimes the cheaper ones last, but most the time they don't. some of the really expensive turbos are just expensive because of who the company is that is selling it. basically, you are paying for the name. kinda like buying cosworth parts...

while this thread may not have ALL the new turbo options that have come out recently, it covers a pretty good general outline of the better brands and options. this should at least get you started in your quest for more power

last time i checked, every turbo on this list is still being used, produced, or sold on the forums so...can't be that outdated. like i said, it doesn't have the newer turbo options on there, but it will help you get a good start in finding a good size, brand, etc. its okay to let people do their own leg work sometimes...

I had a T3/T4 on my RSX back in 02-05ish, and loved it, but that was a 2.0L, Honda.... I'm thinking a little throatier for the 2.5, it's more 'made' for speed anyway...but I don't wanna go too large....maybe GT3076 ? Not sure if that'll spool up quick enough...most of the info I can find throughout the forum (Search button is scratched and worn on my screen by now) is about the 02-07s, or problems people are having, not any real feedback on particular DD setups on the newer model cars. Any "i replaced my VF39 with a XXX (and other necc. components) and it works/doesn't work" is kind of what I'm looking for.

Thanks guys! ...(and gals)

-Pat

Does the TD05 and TD06 bolt up to a 2008 wrx?

also, I was told that the 08 wrx has a td04 19t as the turbo that came on it. Is this true? or is it not a 19t?

sorry, first turbo vehicle i have owned. love it.
