800 should be fine for towing but other than that no.

What part of Florida are you moving to?

uhaul is always over priced. I remember they wanted to charge me like 80 bucks more for one for my old S10 truck. I had a friend of my mom hook me up though, he had one in his garage that was a nice one that fit my truck. only paid half what it was worth back then though, that was a FIND. lol.

I was trying to fine a drawtite hitch assembly but it seems they don't make them for my car. I've always used them for all my trucks but it seems they don't make them for subies... They always had great fitment on their kits.

NY to South Florida will be fine. No mountains to climb (if going from/near NYC). I towed w/ my '06 WRX from Philly to Houston and towed about 1000 lbs. over the Appalachians... no problem.

Ok, I have read and read..and I can not find squat on running an STi Genome with a hitch. Its nearing riding season and I need to get a hitch on the daily. I have what appears to be a draw tight style hitch that i picked up for 40 bux. I want to install this and I am running a Genome axle back. I saw a thread were a guy was selling both but I have not heard from him to see if they were on the same car. I'm sure I will need some hangers, I was going to geta few standard Kartboy (one on the midpipe for sure so it dont wiggle around so much) and a few Kartboy long ones. I dont know if these will help or not and I know Napa has hangers that can work just need to remove some material for the hangers to slip into they have an xxl (#35719) and an xl (#35229).

Anyone here run a Genome or seen it done or know someone with one with a hitch? Its my main car right now as my limited is in storage for winter so I cant really tear it apart and just leave it if that makes sense. I guess I am a bit blind since the axle back i have is fairly rare finding info on the clearance with a hitch is a bit rough.

Any help?

does an 04 wrx sedan require the $64 dollar wire kit from e-trailer. I read through and didn't see anything.

Any other options for wiring too?

Thanks!

You do need a converter box, however AutoZone has one for around $20.

ok, I had a drawtite on and I had to use the stock and extra long (2) for hangers and I hated how low my STi Genome was on my daily.

So I bought a Curt hitch and KartBoy standard length (2) and Long (2) hangers. I used the Standard length in the mid pipe and on the muffler hanger that bolts to the hitch and the long on the front hanger for the muffler and the hanger opposite of the one on the muffler that bolts to the reicever...this is an STi Genome on my daily with the Curt hitch. (disregared the car being dirty, it is winter time and I had not washed it yet and it's just an iPhone picture, Its Nebraska and It's my daily) I'm happy with the outcome...I can say it has been awhile since I played with the KartBoy hangers (use them on my "other" subi)...Forgot what a bear they can be to put on espicially in the cold...

This is the application I was looking for...just don't know if I like how far out it sticks with the adapter 1-1/4 to 2.

I've only seen one other car in this thread that has a 2" receiver...and according to the poster he modified a Curt by welding on the 2" piece.

Is there any 2" hitch that is direct bolt on like the 1-1/4 setup?

Anyone???

I feel like he has the 916 T2 with an adapter.

the 917 T2 is 1 1/4" so it wont stick out nearly as far because it wont have that ridiculous adapter.

this guy has the correct T2 rack

That setup in the picture will be a massive amount of tongue weight when loaded with two bikes and hitting road bumps.

No one makes a 2" hitch for our cars, they only support class I hitches. The size restricition is to prevent people from putting higher load items on the car.

Default Uhaul lists a hitch for the 2012 Impreza Sport

Just FYI to all with 2012 Impreza Sports that are looking for a trailer hitch...the Uhaul site lists a hitch, part number 24858, if you go through the hitch finder, 2012, Subaru, Impreza Hatchback....it does not fit, I'm pretty sure it's for the WRX only. I now have to wait till Monday to call and find out how/where I can return this thing.

I'm thinking about picking up a cargo trailer. Maybe 6x10 with brakes to use when I go camping and for other use (I'm starting to get a little more serious in mobile detailing and things of that nature). The trailer weighs right around 900lbs empty.

What is everyone's opinion on that?

That's heavy, and when you fill it up would be more than I would tow with an Impreza. At a minimum it will need brakes which I doubt it will have as it is designed to be towed by a truck.

So I'm about to get a hitch. Read through the thread and still can't decide what to go with; Curt, hidden, or draw-tite. I'm not to concerned on exhaust fitment since I plan on doing a custom axle back. Concern is installation ease and durability. Curt is 27lbs and Hidden and Draw-tite are 17 n 18lbs. I wouldn't mind saving 10lbs.

Car is 04' wrx wagon, by the way. Plan of use is bike rack regularly and a cross country trip, NEPA to SLC.

Just put my Cusco Zero-2E coilovers back on for summer; had to get a 5" lifted receiver to level it back out. Harbor Freight 4x8 folding trailer.

I did this a few weeks back.

500lb trailer with 3,00lb of gravel in it!!

I only had to pull it 1/2 a mile like that and never took it over 20mph.

Here is a pic of the trailer with about 700lb of tools in it and the top on it from about 2 years ago.

Verses 3,000lb of gravel.

I have pulled this trailer about 4,000 miles now since getting it with no problems.
Best fuel mileage I got pulling it was 27.5mpg running 55mph with the trailer empty and no top on it.
Lowest I got was 19mpg running 75-80mph with about a 1,000 load in it.
Normally I get around 23-25mpg running 60-65mph with about a 1,000 in it.

The car pulls it with no problems.

FYI the tongue was bent like that when I got it. But hey it was free so I can't really complain.

Since I have owned it I have replaced all the lights and wiring, replaced the tires and bout a new spare, built a top for it, added anchor points in side it, and painted it.
This year I plan to replace all the wood and the bent tongue. And repaint it so it is close to the color of the car.

Oh and the car has a Drawtight hitch on it with a GSM cattback and Kartboy long hangers on the axle back section. Fits perfectly.

Only thing I would like to change is I may cut the hitch up and weld in a 2" receiver section. This would make using a bike rack easier and would give me more options for the hitch.

And yes I know "That was stupid to over load it like that".

Noted.

No need for splicing. Just need to pick up one of these:
