Default Wtf

My 07 sti has an hks bov, intake and turbo back exhaust and it is boosting around 18.4 so I believe it has a stage 2 tune on it because I have no cat and no cel. I keep getting a waste gate performance out of limit. It usually happens when it is a little cold or the needle does not show that it is at opperating temperature. Also when I am rolling on six gear and I open the throtle and the boost reaches it max I hear a chichichichichi like a flutter from the waste gate or bov. I don't know if the tune is too aggressive or is my waste gate selenoid failing. Any advice would be greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like a crappy tune where colder conditions were not accounted for correctly. Sounds like you inherited a tuned car so pick a tuner locally that can make adjustments for you or do your own tuning using Cobb's solution or RomRaider. Either one will do. BUT, until you get this fixed, do not keep pushing the car into the error condition. You already know what will happen. No point in aggravating the setup unless you like dealing with unscheduled repairs.

Thanks I want to put the cobb stage 2 on it which I hear is fairly safe but it is kind of hard staying off the throtle.

What would you find cheaper and easier a accessport tune or and open source tune. Can you do open source with an accessport?

No open source with an AP, it's one or the other. Call and ask tuners in your area about cost.

Also take your BOV off and use it as a paper weight since it'll hurt performance.

If you don't know if it's tuned, or who tuned it, or anything else regarding engine management, get it tuned with those aftermarket parts before you blow up your car.

Chichichichi sounds kind of like Compressor Surge..

Give Phatboii Tuning a PM, I think they're down in the SF area this week actually. Mikey's a great guy.

And I plan on removing it I was hoping that the stock one was leaking because it is cheaper then the alternative. Does anyone know a good tuner in Miami?
