Whats the biggest and what brand injectors recommended for E85 on a daily driver . I already running DW1000cc on a GT3076R. I want to keep good idle and drive ability , as I will be running pump 93 65 to 70% of the time.

I finally joined the E85 club today. I went with FiveO custom series 1000's. I found them to be really easy to tune with only slight adjustments needed from the provided flow and latency times. They idled and ran like stock when I setup the gas tune. E85 was easy to dial in from there. I can already tell a difference and I haven't touched boost, fuel or timing from my fairly conservative Stage 2 tune. I can't wait to see how it responds to some more tuning.

One things I found to be odd and I haven't seen anything about:

I started out by running the car down to E and adding 5 gallons of E85 (it was about 73% E). I tweaked the tune until the fuel trims were good and drove it almost back to E again. I reset trip A at the start of my drive and the avg MPG was reading 35 after 60 miles or so. As awesome as that would be it was obviously wrong. I filled all the way up with E85 and adjusted my tune again and drove about 20 miles or so. The MPG reading seems more normal now but it still not reading lower than gas like I thought it would. I haven't done anything to try to improve fuel economy.

My question is: is the Avg MPG reading accurate when running E85? I don't know anything about how its calculated but I assumed it would still be accurate. Thoughts? What avg MPG reading do people normally see?

why use a reading....just run a tank....miles/gallons = mpg

it will always be much worse than gasoline, wait till you get on summer mix( 85) and also it usually takes around three tanks depending on how low you were able to get your tank, to get all the left over gas out. So with that in mind keep an eye on your fuel trims as they might need readjusted at your next two fill ups.

I probably get around 13 city and never go to far with the car on E so am not sure about highway mpg.

It's not reading correctly because you changed the size of the injectors. The ECU assumes the stock (~500cc) injectors when doing this calculation. Because you nearly doubled the size of the injectors, your MPG readout will be off by nearly double. You will just have to use the trip meter and calculate miles/gallons yourself.

Thanks xluben. That's exactly what I was looking for. I figured the avg MPG reading was pretty worthless now.

I went through a quarter tank in about 60 miles or so its burning through it quickly like it should be

It uses injector pulse width to calculate mpg. So as it was said, changing injectors changes the reading. With e85, you can add 30% to your injector size and it would still be close. However, what fun is that?

I have often wondered if it would be an adjustable feature or firmware flashable. Na legacy's and imprezas have the same type of mpg computer feature in the same housing so maybe it is just a chip or a jumper that differentiates the settings between the 550 and 270 injectors.

I had thought maybe the mpg calculation would take into account the new injector scaling but I guess not. Like your saying it just sees the new, lower pulse width and calculates the mpg reading higher.

It would be nice if it could be corrected but its really not that important. I'm just mildly OCD so I like have everything read correctly

got some acceleration times for you guys...

50-100mph= 4.5 sec
50-130mph= 8.66 sec
60-130mph= 8.41 sec

...i will post up the vid when i get home from work in the morning. honestly, the 50-100mph time was a **** hair slow because it got away from me a little bit and lost traction, and since it was breaking loose, i was shifting a little slower than normal.

...btw, i kept it so that i use 2nd and 3rd for 50-100mph and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for 50-130mph...

Great! Awesome to see someone else try this. Do you think you could post up the following info? I will start a list of more people want to do a 50-100. If anyone else wants to extend the pull out to 130, I'd be happy to make another list for comparison against the other 60-130 lists out there.

added the 60-130mph time...and here is the vid...you can really see how much it spun at the top of 2nd cause I brake boosted and it slowed me down some (got ALOT of torque steer and had to get it back straight before getting back on it ). so figure about 0.5 sec faster in not freezing weather when i can shift faster and not have to worry about breaking loose...

Awesome! How much power was the car dyno'd at? I think that's probably something I should add to the template, because I know people will be curious to know.
