Installed mine about 3 weeks ago, instantly felt smoother idle and revs. It took a total of 15 minutes of driving to trigger a CEL. I just figured it need a hard ecu reset. So I did that, but just yesterday, another code was thrown after a hard drive to work. I have yet to pull the code, but will do so tomorrow. I am sure it will be a misfire code.
Car is a 2007 2.5i MT with 56,500 miles and no other mods except group n tranny mount and every other bushing turn in concepts sells. |

I installed my pulley this morning. My car is a 2003 wrx wagon with a 4EAT. The install was a breeze. I didn't buy the install tool. I used grimmspeeds tool as a guide and made my own. I immediately noticed an improvement in acceleration from a dead stop. The auto transmission has such a dead spot in the throttle when leaving from a stop. The pulley did seem to improve that sluggishness from 800-2000 rpms. I'm very happy with pulley. You can't go wrong with grimmspeed products. I've attached some links to pics of my install. Thanks grimmspeed.

I guess Ill chime in...
I've had mine on for about 4000km now. Engine is a JDM V7 Ej207 that I swapped in about 25,000km ago. No CEL's at all. Didn't need to use a tool to pull off the OEM pulley but it had been off about a year and a half ago due to the timing belt. Results? Well. Its just a butt dyno talking but I think that the motor noticeably pulls up through the revs sooner... and with a 207, that's money in the bank cause there's not much for me below 4000rpm. No downsides so far |

I bought a black Grimmspeed Lightweight Pulley for my 2011 WRX and have been using it for about a month now.
Initial impressions: The Grimmspeed pulley looks fantastic! It also came in a small box, packed neatly in foam which ensure that my product would not get scratched or damaged in shipping, which I appreciate. I weighed the pulley on a highly accurate scale and it weighed in at a very approximate 2.023 lbs. After I removed the stock pulley, I weighed it and it came in at a staggering ~5.752 lbs! The install: The install video Grimmspeed provides on their website is extremely helpful and I found to be a very straightforward guide for removing the old and installing the new pulley. I will admit, even with the Grimmspeed adapter, and gates installation tool, reinstalling the AC belt can be a major PITA. After the install: I initially noticed that the car idles Much smoother than before. I also noticed that the revs seem to be slightly faster when free revving. I then took the car for a quick test run that night to see how the new pulley had affected its behavior. I certainly won't exaggerate and say that I thought the car was 'a lot faster' because it wasn't. I do think however that it is slightly quicker than before. What I did notice, was that on/off throttle response was greatly improved and that entire process was much smoother than before. I also found it MUCH easier to downshift, and when up shifting, it is now possible to let the clutch out much faster, achieving the same level of smoothness and momentum as before. Essentially it has helped me improve the speed and smoothness of my shifting. I think that as I add more power to the car (currently stage 1 + intake) the difference the pulley will make will become more apparent. Overall I am 100% satisfied this far and would recommend this product to anyone looking for a fairly inexpensive and worthwhile mod for your WRX! Thanks Grimmspeed for an awesome product, and I will look for your products again in the future! |

My friend and I, with each an 07 mtm 2.5i and 08 4eat 2.5i respectively are looking to get lightweight pulleys for our cars. Will any pulley removal tool work to take the crank pulley off? I have a set made for multiple applications. But I have not seen anyone make a comment about what tool they used, if they bought the tool from GrimmSpeed or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only tool that will work with both the oem pulley and ours it the pulley tool we make. There may be another application that works but i'm not aware of any. http://www.grimmspeed.com/catalog/pr...roducts_id=231 Mike |

So this tool will work for both an 07 manual and 08 auto? A friend of mine has access to AllData and it 'appeared' as if the two years showed different tools? Just want our bases covered when we go to order that we can make it happen and not have to place another other. Thanks in advance.

Yes this will work on both models! we specifically designed the tool to work with the different oem bolt patterns in the crank pulley.

I've had mine on for two months now. Ever since the install I have lost 2 mpg. Before the install I always got 21 mpg now I get 19. My driving habits haven't changed. Has anyone else with an auto noticed this?

What year is your Impreza? I am about to install one on my '08 4eat this weekend I hope, as long as my root canal Friday doesn't keep me down lol. I will keep an eye on my mpg's as well to see what happens because I am currently getting around 21-22 mpg as well.

I have a 2009 WRX, I did not have my MPGs drop. I am running E85 and I get better MPGs than similar 08+ setups in my area that do not have this pulley. Granted our mods are different, so that isn't the best example (but they are similar). Either way, I did not loose MPGs. I have an app on my phone and track every fill up I do.

I installed one a few weeks ago. No problems with install, very straight-forward. Honestly though, I don't notice any difference at all.
