Dale, as long as it's a pull clutch, phase2. if its just the front diff thats blown, even better. 2.0 WRX ratios are the best for this setup. |

Anyone know anything about 98-02 Accord V6 auto transmissions? There was a class action lawsuit in 2002 that made them extend the warranty out to 100,000 miles. My brother's car is at 130,xxx.
What was the problem exactly? Did the transmissions fail because of low fluid due to leak or was there something else that was wrong. His transmission fluid is low. Can I just keep adding transmission fluid and will it hold together as long as there's enough fluid in it? |

honda autos all fail. mostly cause of north american driving practices, habits and laws, but the special honda fluid is expensive. possibly more cost effective to swing by all foreign and pick one up at your earliest convenience.
i also hypothesize Ashwin killed it by driving on cold oil. wife is playing mass effect1 right now. then 2 then 3, i'm gonna do them all in order as well. i hope i have time soon. |

LOL! He's not you or Krepley!
![]() I noticed it shifting kind of hard (1-2 shift?) several months ago. It wasn't absolutely terrible but it did make me question it. He said that's how it has always shifted. A few months later he got a CEL and upon reading a P0780 code for 'shift error', I told him it was because he was granny-shifting and not double clutching like he should've been. We then checked the trans fluid level and it was below the low mark. So I don't know if the hard shifting was due to low fluid or vice versa or unrelated. Jason, this B7XA Honda auto transmission fails due to bad design. Period. There was even a class action lawsuit as a result! Honda admits the parts suck and would only charge people labor to fix it. Though maybe this was only during the warranty period? So getting another used transmission from the junkyard is a terrible idea. Who knows how long it will last. http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/th...s_warranty.pdf Last edited by MRF582; 03-15-2012 at 04:40 PM. |

P0780: Mechanical problem in hydraulic control system for shift solenoid valve A and a/t clutch pressure control solenoid valves a and b, or problem in hydraulic control system.
Leads to replacing shift solenoid valve and a/t clutch pressure control valves a and b, and if that dosent fix it then replace trans assy. When we have cars at our Honda dealer like that we just replace the trans.( not recommended by our technical asst to replace solenoids) |
