I ran the 19t for about a year and absolutely loved it. I only changed it because I did an ej207 swap which came with a vf37.
Spool time was just about the same as stock, definitely quicker than the small 16g I ran. I was disappointed with the 16g spool time, that's why I.chose the 19t wheel upgrade. BTW mine is for sale if anyone wants to give it a whirl! Less than 8k miles and done by Blouch, still have the.paperwork. |

I almost failed my CA BAR certification because of my boost gauge. I was chatting up the inspectors, and those guys do actually inspect the turbos and other items. Not only do they know exactly what to look for, they also know all the tricks and then some that people try to sneak by them.

Changed my vf39 to a td04H-19t and love it. Quicker spool and very similar powerband. Pulls hard up to 6500 for sure and spools like ~17 psi by 3200 in third. Not too much of a drop in power up top with much better low end. Great daily driver turbo, not much more lag than stock but definately some. Just my 2¢.
Running full 3" catted exhaust, Cobb sf intake, grimmspeed pnp manifolds and crosspipe, v7 Sti tmic, dw650, walbro 255. Clark e-tune. Protune maybe someday... |

On the 2.1 stroker the small 16G made 4.4 MAFV by 4,200 RPM and 28 psi on the way up and at 18 psi, 4.7 MAFV at 6,200. This is with an external gate and Apexi power intake (equvalent stock MAF voltages quoted). That's where I left it and it was pushing the turbo quite hard but it held up great. I thought about trying out the 19T on the small stroker but cost wise it did not make sense to leave so much power on the table. I'm curious to see what a good EWG setup will do with one but I'm past that now an on to a billet 20G (and maybe T04S hybrid). I think the only way to really get the potential out of this small snail big compressor turbo is with an ex-gate. Without one you are leaving a ton of power on the table maybe as much as 60HP in terms of air flow. The 6 cm hot scroll is a huge restriction after about 4K RPM. 28 psi peak boost is doable on this turbo as well for someone who has the courage. For the money and simplicity I'd take a used/rebuilt VF39/43/48 over the 19T if staying on the internal gate. It will make more power and cost less. |

That's a good point w/ the increase on the 16g pricing! What happened w/ blouch, why such a huge jump? Also fp's hta68 was 899 at some point, now their site has it for 1299?!

All turbos made by buying a Mitsu turbo and "Frankstein-ing" from there will be more expensive. At Blouch, you may have noticed that the G based turbos went up significantly, but the DOM 1.5, 2.5, 3, etc... didn't really increase, because these are based on Garrett parts, not Mitsu parts. |

I've been reading this thread for a while and still haven't quite made up my mind about going with the 19t upgrade or just go for the 16g. I really like the price for the 19t conversion which midwest turbo connection (http://shop.midwestturboconnection.com/main.sc) list the prices on their site with all the options (l,h,hl,thrust bearings, and step gap rings) where as the blouch site doesn't. I also like the fact that they can do the upgrade with the l shaft and upgraded thrust parts for $675, but if you go with the H shaft then you end up paying $800. With this being said I am definitely stuck between a rock and a hard place bc I could spend a few more bucks and get a 16g and have more power available and not have to worry about it going out prematurely bc of it pushing harder than the housing is meant to allow or whatever.
sorry for being long winded, not clear, or rambling my turn to watch my son who is 2 weeks old who hasn't quite got the nack of sleeping at night yet has just ended hince why I finally get to post something at 7 am... ugh |

Have you seen the number of failures of 19Ts in this thread? I think you have to take into account the risk as well as the initial cost. 16G is a virtually no risk proposition. How much can you afford for your ~$700 to evaporate if it has the problem many of the 19Ts have had in this thread... plus if you go 16G, your original turbo is worth at least $100, which narrows the gap further.

Depends solely on your right foot, should not change unless your driving style changes.. Also, skip the 19t and go straight to VF39/43 etc or 16g.

Read a bunch of this whole thing, and I have to say that those who say a 19T will not get you to 300whp are talking out of their asses. I have a 19T with DW 650Cobb spec, walbro 255, PnP everything, and catless exhaust, and I'm at 300. and not even close to maxing out, beast of a turbo for the 2.0, highly recommended.

Luckiest timing ever, the stock 13T broke, and i checked the forum CTsubie.com and a guy had one for sale never been used. Paid $400 then $250 each for tune and injectors
try midwest turbo connection. they have more options you can go basic at like $500 or push it up a couple hundred more. but always be checkin forums someone may be gettin rid of one |
