Salut,

Vous-êtes ou?

I am waiting for delivery of my 2012 Impreza Tourisme on Friday.

I have been searching on here for a couple of days for the rails that run longitudinally along the roof front to back.

They seem to be on all 5 door models except for those from Canada???

Any clues?

I posted the same question a while back, but nobody responded. I have a 2012 5dr Touring in N.B.

The US site doesn't list the rails in their online parts list, so you might need to call a dealer in the US to see if they have a similar mounting system, as the cross bars we can get in Canada.

No doubt they fit into exactly that same positions. There is no way that Subaru would develop 2 different roofs!

Just seems bizarre to me! Will speak to the parts dept at my dealer to see if they know anything (highly improbable).

How are you enjoying yours? CVT or manual? Any hiccups?

Let me know what you find out, I think the rails look much better than the crossbars.

I have the Cvt, no problems, it's a great little car.

I hope you still have some snow to try yours out in, it reminds me of driving a snow mobile

Congrats on the new ride!

I might be asking the obvious but have you confirmed this with a dealer. If they can get them and you're a member of MSC you can get discount at John Scotti, Laval & Brossard (and Lachute I think, but it's a little further away) dealerships.

If it's US only, you could possibly order it via Subarugenuineparts.com or similar, then you have the option of shipping to your door, or picking them up at Freeport Forwarding in Champlain, NY.

Hi Brian,

I just noticed a thread over in the Impreza forum, here's what they said:

Its also worth noting that you'll need to purchase two new replacement outer roof moldings.

I'm going to contact my dealership and see what they quote me for a price for removal and for new outer trim pieces.
So going from racks to rails doesn't sound easy.

Salut.

I own a 2012 Impreza white sedan CVT sport package(pics). I'm from south shore of montreal. It's my very first car & I don't have much experience on the road. There's too much Civic, Corolla, Elantra & Mazda 3 that I wanted something different.

The gas consumption is bad so far 300km on the odo. I do around 12L/100km.

I'm currently wonder if I should get alloy wheel or steel wheel for winter.

I would run catted pipe dkm because yours is NA. Unless you swap engine, and now it is a force induction car.

I would also agree with LGA2011, there are a lot of madza 3 and 6 and civic and corolla and eclipse and crappy car driving around with big loud muffler.(ive also seen a lot of forester, and 1 forester xt)

Im here just visiting family in la salle/verdun. Ive seen a lot of horrible riced out cars with loud muffler. Just yesterday, ive seen some shady guy and his friend trying (he tried and failed, and it was in a black eclipse) to do a burn out in front of me while i was with my family. I just shook my head.

Hi LGA 2011.
You put your finger right on it: there ARE a lot of those civics and mazdas and cie on the road (lol, I used to be one of them...) so, yes, it is nice to be different.

For your rim question I can only say this: I've heard that rims can be damaged by salt on the road in winter... so I went with steel and hubcaps for winter and kept the original rims for summer. Ask around who does what and why, and then take the decision that fits you best.

Have fun with your subbie!
