Default help, what happened to my turbo?

ok heres whats up. i recently replaced my turbo with the ported and polished td04 that was for sale on here about 2 months ago. last week i started losing a significant amount of boost so i took it out to compare it to my old turbo and it looks like the part that connects to the top mount has detatched from the base. i have no idea how this could have happened or how to fix it. what do you think? is it fixable? on a side note, it also looks like the turbines are a little filed. help gurus!

A. yes those blades on the turbine looks horrible.

B. yes, the compressor housing is able to come off and be put back on, there is a clamping system....It shouldn't have come off just 'because' though.

C. buy a new turbo, td04's are cheap. That will be your easiest and best option.

You might get lucky and just be able to reseal the cold side back onto the center section (not sure how it attaches on a td04, vf39 uses bolts) and run it.

Depending on the amount of damage to the impeller it could be toast.

With either option, I would be looking for a replacement to have on deck.

i spent 280 on this one, seller claimed it had 8k miles on it plus it is fully ported and polished. i dont really want to buy a new one if i can help it. i have my old one as a backup. i replaced it because i thought it was leaking oil but after i pulled it off it seemed to be fine. can i replace the turbines on this one and reseal it back together?

I'll let someone with more experience chime in on this one but iirc you're out of luck with the turbine. If you can, you're likely going to pay more than that turbo is worth to fix it.

this.

I'm not concerned at all about the housing separating, that is an easy fix. The eff'd up blades however are not. I'm assuming you're going to pay far north of $200 to get them fixed. And if you're paying $200+ for that, why wouldn't you just get a new turbo?

depending on the year it was produced, quality, shaft play.. etc, they can go from like 70-200+... now as others have stated, that shouldn't just come off, and honestly id slap the old td04 back on because there was nothing wrong with it, like you said..

Us the old one is back in now.. Running great.. I need to find a cheap place to replace the turbines though. It looks like you can just pull them off and put new ones on...

If your old fins are fine... Why not transplant? If you end up being wrong about them being easy to replace, then your out 2 turbos
