I came here to post this. Already see it in written form, and hear it in conversation.

Same thing applies to consistently bad usage of the word 'there' to take place of a location from their first sentence in a conversation. When you start using the word 'there' and bring in new locations, it gets pretty difficult to follow what the hell you are talking about.

A personal pet peeve is when someone ends a sentence with the word 'so'. I like to say 'dot dot dot' right thereafter and give a look of go on anytime someone does this.

Please, continue your thought process. Tell me more!

one thing throws me off sometimes.

'substitute'

If something comes with fries, but i want to not receive fries, and , in place of the fries, receive onion rings. is it; "Please sub rings for fries" Or "please sub fries for rings" ? does it depend on the use and placement of 'the' ?

In an email I was sent today from the GM.

"We need to cover our basis."

I almost threw up on my keyboard.
Timely thread is timely.

This:

Damn it...the first one.

You know what, your ****ing sentence structure is screwing me up!

"Please substitute the fries with onion rings."

My typos are mostly because I'm just not thinking. Today I sent an email to the right person, but called her the wrong name. My brain is failing me.

I don't really look to do more like if and when that sentence structured.

Me fail English? That's unpossible.

I'm having that feel where you look at a word and keep re-reading it until it looks foreign to you....the more I read the examples, the more I keep flop-flopping.

Per Steve Martin of SNL fame from many years ago, "Some people have a way with words, and others not have way!"

Man I had to go to a training class in Calgary for an old company I worked for. The guy who ran the training was British. He HATED the use of that word and would go on diatribes as to why it isn't a word.

Girl at work asked a while back, "In lieu of? Is that somewhere out in the factory?" (referring to Boeing 747/767/777/787 factory).

One of my favorites - which is fairly obscure - is "just deserts".

Yes, it sounds like "desserts", but it's spelled "deserts". Really.

Mixing up of heterographs in written language chaps my ass the most.

And yes, I had to look up heterograph
