That other dealer was the Subaru/Mazda dealer on Rt17. Wow were they horrible. I can't explain how shady they were. However, as luck would have it, they had a WRX with all the options i wanted that had been sitting for a while. They only care about moving cars - this one had some scratches and a few test-drive miles on it and i guess they wanted to get rid of it. My salesman was like 18 and i think he went lower than he was supposed to (some of the older guys seemed pissed). I got a ridiculous deal, so i had to buy from them. But as expected, once the deal went through - they don't give a crap about you. i got the car, but it only had 2 keys (one being the valet) and was missing its owners' manual(which i didn't realize till later). i finally got an owner's manual from them after a bunch of complaints. the key thing was a huge issue. obviously i don't want a key to my car floating around. but i could not get it from the pr*cks. i'm guessing it was lost. i wrote letters to SOA, who did nothing. i filed with the better BBB. they kept claiming the key was 'in the mail'. never got it. but i ended up with a good car with no problems for 4+ years. i wrecked the clutch recently at ~67,000 miles but that's my own fault.

That's Ramsey Subaru, and was the guy blond?

I remember when I was there the salesman that came up to me was a young blond guy who took 4k right away off of my wrx so I just bought it on the spot because it was a great deal. They didn't really clean the car very well, on the inside or outside. On the positive they gave me brand new tires for free

What can anybody tell me about the sales staff at Subaru of Morristown? The GF went over Friday to look at a new Forester - she's quite interested in them, or was, until one of the salespeople said "we're too busy here today, let me take your info and I'll have the sales manager call you back." Are sales in Morristown that good that they can basically brush off potential buyers?

Wow, must be nice to be busy dealership. I'm surprised they would take that kind of approach with her. Go somewhere else.

Picked up a 09 WRX Premium 5 Door from Lester Glenn Subaru in Toms River, NJ. Car came with Ipod Interface and extended Arm rest. I talked them down to 27,000 even plus tax, title, fees. Salesman was a down to earth guy, not pushy at all. Now the sales manager on the other hand was a di**. He pretty much said its my price or the highway. Haven't been back for service yet. I thought I got a pretty good deal. Very reasonable place once you hassle them a bit. I'd recommend them.

The thing is, everyone is different.

If you go into a dealership, looking and talking like a hoodlum, they are going to think you are a joke.

If you go in there well dressed and act professional and educated, they will be civilized and talk with you. I got my WRX over 2k off what they were asking and even managed to get away with them selling it without a single cat on.

Its how you address people and how you represent yourself. Sure, some places are just nasty, but they treat you based on how you treat yourself.

In my heart I can't beleive this. Maybe I should just go and get a Honda. I have 3 of them and really wanted a change. I'm not sure on how to write this and get my point across. I want to lease a Subaru at the end of March and am trying to do my research up front. Thanks to anyone who can assist.
btw- my closest Subaru dealer is ....Bill Kolb and I read so many old horror stories I dont know what to think. Looking for more recent reviews. I did see their Lease deal on a Legacy Elite (just looking for basic car, I don't need WRX or anything like that), for 177 a month the car and deal looks pretty good. but the reviews have me spooked.

I just ordered my first Subaru from Liberty in Oradell NJ. It's a 2009 Impreza.
Jeff, my saleman, did a fine job taking care of me. I paid $641 below invoice.
Subaru is running a $1,000 customer rebate through 3-31-09. I'll be taking
delivery within 2 weeks.

Hey guys I appreciate the kind words!

It seems that many people around here have had mostly indifferent experiences at Northern NJ and NY dealers.

Some of you may know me as "ChruiSSer". I've been on the boards for a while. Long story short I'm a sales consultant at Wayne Subaru. I've been here for 5 years whilst I was in school.

I want to say that we're in the process of undergoing some major changes. Anyone who tried to buy a car from us 2+ years ago would note that we weren't extremely competitive. Anyone who's purchased or considered a car from us in the last 2 years, can see some of the changes.

I'd like to personally say that we'll do WHATEVER IT TAKES to earn your business! I'll look for pre-owned Executive demo's if that's what your looking for, I'll swap in a car I don't have in stock, I'll order the exact model and color car your interested in, and most importantly, I'll beat ANY deal that a competitor gives you. If you guys have any questions, either pm me, call me, shoot me an e-mail. We believe in Integrity. We've never had a lawsuit, and believe in doing business in a straight forward manner. We're in the process of re-doing the building inside and out!

liberty, ramsey and wayne... they're the best IMO!

first went to wayne, only place i test drove the wrx from. i wasn't interested in getting a wrx yet but my experience with them made my decision to get one faster. they offered me some good deals but i told them i'm not fully decided yet but i'm close. after about a week, i decided to try another dealership. enter liberty...

from my emails to in-person contact, liberty was the best i've dealt with from an overall dealership experience. i dealt with clayton, dan and rick. they took care of me from the very beginning. i even placed an order from them and tried to wait. unfortunately, i wasn't able to. enter ramsey...

one of the guys here referred me to the sales manager, josh, as ramsey has a car that i was interested in. he helped me from the first contact until now while waiting to pick the car up in 7-10 days. got a great price for it. gave me everything i asked. he's the best salesperson that i've dealt with so far and i can't stress enough how helpful he had been.

I went to the dealer to get an alignment For my 2006 Legacy GT.creg told me that since the cars suspension was altered (lowered) the alignment was going to be $160.00. They had to replace 2 camber Bolts on the vehicle. he reduced it to $150.00,OK. he also told me that i needed The Transmission fluid changed (He seed it was black),The Brake fluid Changed(he seed it was dirty) and the fuel injection Kit done. OK do it. All WAS GOOD, 2 Days latter when i went to do an oil change at my Friends Shop we checked the supposed camber Bolts that the dealer had install. turns out that the bolts were never changed. I Called the dealer to speak to creg,I Never got a call Back, Until the dealer called, asking how my service Had Gone. i explained to the Representative My Findings. So creg Calls Me And I Explain That I was Not Happy With The Service. creg tells me I'm going to speak to the mechanic to see what he did. Maybe He Had To Drill the holes bigger to get the alignment right.HE NEVER CALLED BACK. creg Your Full Of ****. if you make the holes bigger you don't get camber adjustment. We Have Bought 3 New Subaru's from bill kolb Jr. Subaru in the last 6 years, and i recommended the dealer to everyone. and this is what i get? **** you bill Kolb. Never Again.

+1 for Wayne

Bought our Legacy GT there in 2010 and had no problems. Felt they low balled a little on the trade, but it needed some upcoming work that would have cost the difference, so I felt good about it. The rest of the deal was great. They say with my wife (pregnant at the time) as long as she needed, explaining the equipment and operations of the car etc...

My car, a Saabaru has been in more often than hers, but the service is great. Friendly and helpful, especially working with my schedules.

If I decide to buy another Subaru in the future, they will be my first stop.

I am interested in purchasing a wrx, seems like everyone has something good to say about metric.

Bit far of a drive for me though, anyone been to competition Subaru in smithtown or heard anything about it?

Bought my car from Competition Subaru. It was a certified pre-owned but they wanted to charge me to repair a bad seat heater switch, defective mirror display and a couple of other minor issues. The car was delivered very dirty. Had to go back every week for two (2) months for a CEL. The steering wheel wasn't centered and they said they performed an alignment, but it was still off. Brought the car to my own alignment guy and he fixed it. Finally decided to use another dealership and got the CEL fixed.

Terrible service.

Go to Metric Motors. I had a tranny problem that no one else could fix. In two days it was repaired under warranty.

Just brought my 2012 WRX in for an oil change at World Subaru in Tinton Falls. They had a ton of construction going on, dirt everywhere, tools and materials scattered around the entire lot. Pretty scary taking my 4 month old car there. Told them I had to be at work at 9am. I dropped the car off at 8am and by 9:30 they were done.

It was my first time ever taking a car to the dealer for any type of service since I usually do all the maintenance myself. However I have heard many warranty horror stories and wanted to play everything by the book. Thus my $65 dealer oil change.... well at least they decided to throw in a quick wash and a 6" scratch above the drivers door handle!!!!

Unfortunately I just saw it as I pulled into work. Hoping it can buff out. Not a great first dealer experience!

Just bought a 2013 legacy from Wayne Subaru and my husband and I had a great experience. From research on the forum, we asked for Chris and everything went smoothly. The sale was easy Chris wasn't pushy at all ( compared to a Mazda dealer that was calling me at least once a week...). I have had the car for 2 weeks now and I love it.

Just went to bill kolb Subaru the other day to test drive one of their cars, it was a smooth ride and got me very interested in owning one of my own since they are having a special of 0% financing on all '13 models of forester. But once we started to sit down and talk numbers it went down hill, not only did he give me the pricing for turbo forester and even stating that bill kolb's pricing is cheaper than the Msrp..Even though I'm only looking for the pricing for a touring model which is only around 28k while the sales person wrote down 29k than took off 1k to make it seems like they are cheaper that's if u didn't do research on it before hand. Good thing I researched on here and didn't fall for it. So if anyone can recommend a dealer that's not shady and is worth your hard earned money let me know?

Goto Ramsey Subaru in Ramsey, NJ. It's a mile from the NY border. Ask for Clayton. He will get you the absolute best deal on any new Subaru. I can't post how much I paid for my 13STI but it was well under invoice.

Ramsey - warning: As with any dealer, many people get deals and have incident-free experiences there. But they sold me a car from their current allocation (this was last year), that they had either already sold to someone else, or sold out from under me when it came in. That's bad enough, but hardly unheard of, especially with cars that are in short supply. But then they continued to assure me that the car was due to arrive any day, when not only had they already delivered it to another customer, they knew another such car wouldn't be coming for at least another 6 weeks. It may be a cliche to say it, but I've never been so humiliated in my life. When I found out (another salesman inadvertently told me) and confronted the sales manager, he delivered a performance that was enough to single-handedly renew the reputation of used car salesmen as slime balls for at least another generation.

I concur with the positive things others have said about Wayne. I didn't buy my car there because they didn't have the one I wanted, but I've had good sales and service experiences there, and I would definitely give them a shot next time. (I wound up getting the car at Welsh Subaru in Limerick, PA. They were straight up, and gave me a very fair trade-in as well.)

-10000 for Town Motors in Englewood. Do not go there for sales. I can't offer a yes or a no on the parts/service departments.
