Just curious. How come you didn't go for the WRX? You seem to be dumping a decent amount of money into this.

I needed a new car, my old one was ****ting the bed. The better question is why didnt I go for an STI?

Simple answer is I needed a car fast, looked for an impreza within my price rangeat the time, and found this baby on Craigslist and immediately fell in love.

Anyway Im more of a built not bought guy so putting some blood sweat and paychecks into this car is something Im looking forward to.

Alright so I got the shifter trim piece wired up and back in place. First, the little red light was distractingly bright and the faceplate to the three accessory outlets I added popped the glue I used to hold it down since its under a bit of tension. So I took it back out, added two small screws to hold the face plate in, not a clean looking as before but now it will never come loose. And added a couple coats of niteshades to the bulb to hopefully dim it down a bit ... then got bored and well ...

Waddaya think?

Thanks, I need to order more to match up more of the interior but I had a large enough piece laying around from my old car and had some time on my hands today and figured why not

Also went to inspect my "chirp-er" when you lock the doors cuz it sounded like it was dying lately, and when I pulled the plug I noticed this...

The prongs corroded out into the plug...anyone know where I can get a new "chirp" unit? and possibly a new plug?

This...

So Ive noticed now that the hot weather is here, after a while of driving and Im just kinda trolling in traffic, the car is extremely "fume-y" almost smells like hot gas fumes.

The cat is a little clogged, as soon as I move into my new place on the 10th Im going to go ahead and order the UEL and high-flow cat and see if it goes away, Im just not too sure since clogged cats seem to be described as smelling like rotten eggs/sulfer.

We shall see...

So I was internetless for a little bit during my move to a new apartment.
So I thought I would update with this: My baby's new digs...

Yep, my own personal underground parking spot right under my building

Oh and took this for giggles at work the other day

Other than that not much is different. Going to be ordering the Tsudo UEL header and high flow cat pipe in the next couple weeks.

Was bored during my lunch break so I started removing the non-functional AC system

So the only thing left is the condenser panel in front of the radiator. Is this dedicated to the AC system, ie. can it be removed without effecting anything else? Also it looks like for removal I can just figure out how to disconnect it from whats holding it in there and then undo the rad supports, tilt the radiator back toward the engine and slip it out. Thoughts?

Also is there anything behind the firewall/dash worth the effort to remove?

car is coming along nicely. It makes me miss my wagon. Your not going to make much more power, I'd concentrate on suspension, it makes it a super fun daily. I didnt see any info on your check engine light, but word to the wise, if you clear your check engine light, and erase the fault codes, you must let the car sit and idle for roughly 10 minutes, the ecu has to re-learn the throttle stop/ IAC placement. That was why your car was stalling right after you cleared it. Also be careful on suspension mods, because they may or may not fit the front non turbo subframe. nice car though!

Thnx. Yea for now its just going to be mostly modest mods, concentrating mostly on suspension and exterior.

At some point I want to go turbo but if I do that I want to go all out and rebuild the 2.5 or purchase a rebuilt EJ27 long-block from cobb

Looks good. I had the same car before my 07 wrx wagon. I sort of miss it... lol.

Not sure it's a big deal and it's probably too late, but the wire going to the cig lighter probably isn't rated to power 4 aux devices. If you start popping fuses don't put bigger ones in, fuses are usually there as a way to prevent damage to the wiring due to too much current draw.
