Wrxltd.. I have been dealing with village subaru for years now, they are a good dealer i can tell you they are not out to screw you. If you put a deposit down its your car period. You have a receipt and proof of that in writing. Look at everyone else in this thread, it takes time be patient.

Did you order the car or was it already coming in and you put your deposit on it?

First I just want to thank everyone for their kind words of hanging in there. And it's good to hear that some people feel the dealership I ordered through is on the up & up. For the record, I ordered the car April 1st, and it was NOT already coming in (that I know of). Being given the VON number would have verified this.

Having a receipt that states I put $1000 deposit on A car means squat though without...again...a VON number written on it. If I'm allowed to walk from this deal at anytime BEFORE driving the car off the lot (Massachusetts law), why wouldn't the dealership be able to back out of this deal as well?

What still bothers me is why do some people get their VON number right away (when order is placed), and some like myself still don't have it almost 4 weeks later? Regardless if it's SOA or SoNE, the process should be the same...as in some sort of processing number is generated when an order is placed, then given to the customer.

Regardless, it's poor customer service to not even call them back telling me they don't have a VON number yet.

Quote:
but once you place your order and put a deposit on it that is YOUR CAR. what you are suggesting is actually illegal im pretty sure. that would suggest it's fine for you to enter a contract with downpayment and the other party doesn't follow their end of the contract and holds your money interest free.
I have a piece of paper that states I put $1000 down on A car...no VON or VIN number. Like I stated above, if I have the right to back out of this deal at anytime BEFORE I drive the car off the lot, the dealership I would think can back out before that time as well.

Quote:
just hold on and keep putting pressure on the dealer to give you the VON if it's available. call SOA and put pressure on them too. if you are through SONE then call them and put pressure on them. but know that the car you ordered is YOUR CAR.
I'll hold on for now, but I'm done calling anybody anymore.

Quote:
and never put a down payment on a car with a credit card.. especially when the projected date for delivery is over a month. why pay interest on something you don't even have yet?
It was either the credit card or a check...and getting money back from a credit card deal is a lot easier than getting cash money back. Of course the balance will be paid in full so I don't pay interest on it. As for interest from the bank on my $1000, my free checking account interest rate is 0% anyway.

understandable that this would bother you. but unfortunately it's just the way it is. for SOA and SONE to be in sync would make too much good and reasonable sense so, naturally, they aren't.

just hang in there. from the sound of things you are working with a reputable dealer. if you still feel off about them try and find some reviews on the dealership.

doesn't your order paper have the details of what you ordered on it? if so then you are also in a queue at that dealership to receive that car. if you are the only person in that queue then the first one that comes in is yours i would assume.
i do see what you mean though about dealer potentially backing out but i wouldn't worry about that. in the end they want to move the car regardless of price. you are a guaranteed customer. you are going to take a car off their lot and up their sales which in turn helps them out more than making an extra couple hundred by screwing you and holding out for another customer. also remember that it costs them money to keep the car on the lot as well. the longer it sits the less they will make on the sale.

It does have some hand-written details about the STI I want, but no VON or VIN number. I certainly hope I get the first one that comes in!

My fear is I won't be getting an STI right off the truck with 8 to 10 miles on it...but instead an STI from another dealership that has like 100 miles on it because it came from out of state.

Like I told them when I ordered this, "Don't wash it, don't even take the plastic off the seats...I'll deal with that. Do only the minimum so as to apply the protective film on the front/hood/mirrors."

requested that my dealer not pull the plastic, clean it, plate bracket it or dealer badge it.
dealer agreed and says he will deliver it in a fresh off the truck state.
said i am the first person to request this at his dealership.
was going to let them detail but no tire shine but i started getting all sorts of worried thoughts about it. i know they do a good job there but it only takes one bad day for something to go wrong.

im going to have fun detailing this thing whenever i get it. i'd rather put the 6 hours in myself to get it perfect

i wouldn't worry about this honestly. if it happens deal with it then. but there is no sense in worrying about things that there are no proof are happening. deal with whatever does happen. all you are going to do is drive yourself nuts being all paranoid over it and cause yourself stress. just relax, sit back and kick up your feet. like us, you are in for the long haul.

Wrxltd i am in the same situation as you. No von yet and i ordered a day before you did. Im gonna drop by my dealer this weekend and get any updates possible and maybe test drive an older wrx they have on the lot. Sales rep is pretty cool considering my family has bought 6 cars from him and mine will be the 7th.

Hopefully i hear some news. I hope my car comes in mid may. I wanna take it on my drive to cape cod and show my uncle.

i hope i have mine in time for WBM too.

my generic ETA is June according to SOA and May according to my dealership.

i ordered on 3/26/2012 but SOA says i shouldn't expect a VIN even until 2 months in.
Just going to wait and see what happens. if i have it in time for WBM i will go if not then ill save myself the trouble give money to a friend who is going so he can buy me the parts i want at the crazy prices they have there.
went last year with my built 2011 STi sedan. i won a Nasioc t-shirt from the raffle... in fact im wearing it right now
anyways... WBM is allot of fun just remember to bring lots of water and sunscreen. i got the worst sunburn i had ever had in my life and there wasn't enough water in the continental US to quench my thirst.

Anyone have any info on the most recent ship to dock? I've got an ETA of 5/11 I wonder when my car will hit the rails from Washington.

Just a little insight on my experience w/SOA and the dealership. When I ordered my car, recieved a VON and this was the only WRX in the dealers pipeline at the time of order. A week or so went by and I went by the dealer for an update-at this time there was another base SWP WRX and also mine in their pipeline. Mine was due in MAY and the other WRX was due in April WTF?. Luckily my dealer would turn his computer screen and allow me to see this info, which actually shows if the car is sold, invoice price, and ETA etc. When I was nearing delivery time I noticed that my ordered car's ETA was swapped with the pipeline car that is not already sold. I know SOA's order system kind-of sux at our level, but they are trying to get your car to ya as fast as possible. There's a lot of factors on wait times, NAV, Bad weather crossing oceans, Trucks waiting for a full load, and also dealer mistakes. Maybe someone should come up with a system like UPS tracking system for SOA. Don't mean to write a book but I thought this info would help.

you are yet another lucky person who ordered a car that was already en route to the states. Your car is being allocated to your dealership to fill your order that fast cause you just happened to pick the same trim and color as one that is currently on its way over that doesn't have an owner (be that customer or dealer) yet.

My car already has a VIN so from the sounds of it, it should be arriving any time soon. I think I got lucky, my car was pre-ordered before I walked into the dealership, I been watching the website and its been on there for a few months already as "in transit" my dealer is claiming that both ships have docked and it should be no longer than a week for me to get it. I hope hes not blowing smoke to keep me from calling every 4 hours for an update lol.. I'm so anxiouse its not even funny im going insane!1

I think I am going to call tmrw and request that the car not be washed, dealer baged and plated and keep all the plastic on. I;m thinking I want the "off the truck" look...

WOW, 5 month of waiting is way too long! Anyway the plasma blue perl looks great!

Which dealer did you order from? Kennesaw? SoA updated my ETA from 5/1 to 4/25 but I haven't heard anything from dealer yet.
