That wing is actually functional if the car sees the track.

I don't know why everyone hates on big wings. If they actually increase the performance of the car and the owner likes the look...what does it matter?

I actually wish there were more options for the hatch. I would love to add some front and rear downforce to the car...

Haha I knew people were going to hate on it, and I really don't care.

As for the car, I plan on tracking it in the future, possibly even this summer on a few open track days. I need to still look into a front Lip/Splitter. As for the hatch, The only "big" (functional) wing ive seen is the Blacktop Aero one, and It looks awesome

Here is a pic for all the haters:
Top: Functional
Bottom: Not Functional

I just don't understand why you want your car to go slower and handle poorly.

What?

He's running the OE tires, and I'd be willing to bet my left nut that he's got Korean knockoffs at all 4 corners.

Aero is the LAST 5% of the puzzle, it helps nothing unless you've got the rest of the car dialed in.

The only thing that wing is doing is causing the car to accelerate slower, get worse MPG, slower top speed, and horribly unbalanced handling.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that a 100% stock STI would absolutely smoke that thing around any track.

The wing is on his car is nothing more than a Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement.

Both are functional. You have to ask yourself, will you ever drive fast enough to need that kind of downriver? Not anytime soon if you are going to race on a circuit track. The OEM wing provides more than enough while your car is stock..or near stock.

Don't be that guy. He never said he is driving professionally.

Oh, you are that guy... his Korean wheels roll just as well as my Japanese wheels and the OEM tires aren't bad tires, just not as competitive as some of the others in its class. They are still better than other tires than new drivers take to their first several sessions of hpde.

A stock Sti is only going to edge this thing out because of better uses of weight and down force. A good driver will catch up in the corners.

Wasn't talking about the wheels.

I was referring to the knockoff coilovers that completely **** up the handling on these cars.

Do you have any experience with setting up and tuning aero packages on cars?

No, I do not have hands on experience, or access to data that I have personally collected. However, I do have good bit of hands on knowledge of fluid dynamics in a nautical setting.

I also have enough common sense and car experience to know how poorly a car will perform with 300UTQG tires, and junk dampers.

Using a wing to put more weight on tires that are already overloaded (due to the poor performance attributes of those tires), you are not adding traction. If you want traction, you need tires, not a wing.

Then you really can't talk to how it will affect the cars performance. For example, the Voltex wing above (white STI) is actually one of few rear wings that is wind tunnel tested. Granted, when you add downforce to the rear end of an AWD car, there are other adjustments that need to be made (front end downforce, ride height, etc) to make the car balanced. But...there is real, on track gains to be made on street tires and then multiplied on slicks.

For example, (warning EVO content)...this EVO 10 saw NICE gains on the track with the Voltex setup when the rest of the car was tuned for it as well. He actually swaps the trunk with a wingless one for DD duties.

Time attack and other Subaru track cars also use larger rear wings on both street and track tires depending on what the event rules allow.

My point is...you can't make sweeping comments like that unless you have real world experience in setting up cars.

Whether or not you like the look of it is a personal preference.

Okay, I'll go buy some decent tires and you go buy some giant wings and stretch the OE tires on some grids...I think you'll be surprised at the results.

I run 265/35 Michelin PSS's on 9.5" wide Works...you are barking up the wrong tree there...

That said...people track Rota's just fine all of the time and a little bit of stretch (not hellaflush) can actually increase sidewall stiffness and turn in feel. It just depends on the overall setup...

You'd think he just spit on that guy's mother by putting a wing on HIS car. Why do you even care what HE does to HIS car. Let it go man...

Because racecar? haha I don't know, because I'm a nice guy. I think you've seen enough of my car to know that I have the whole "Embrace the Chrome" theme going on, so I wanted to try it. I actually LIKE the look. It makes my car look clean. Pictures do NOT do them justice. However, on lighter colors they are a bit much. The contrast on DGM brings out the Metallic flakes, too.

Anyways, these won't stay because my Limited has HIDs and a motor for the leveler that cannot be swapped with non-WRX Limited/STI headlights. I'm trying to see if hotboxed will swap me since his 2012 is being worked on anyways. He doesn't seem to mind his STI having the wheels, so it wouldn't surprise me if he was cool with the headlights as well, although I don't know anyone with a 2012 that would pass up black housings.

ALSO, if you really must know, imagine my DGM with 2012 STI headlights, but an 08-10 STI front bumper and the sport grille with the chrome mustache:

It would ONLY work if I stuck with my "Embrace the Chrome" theme. Potential?

Also thinking about these wheels:

Color:Stealth Chrome/ Size: 19x8.5/ Bolt Pattern:5x100/ Offset:+45/ MSRP:$435.00

Input? Productive and unproductive is welcomed and expected.
