Default Brake Rotor Groove?

Recently did a Brembo upgrade to my 2009 WRX about 2 months ago. While driving I looked over the driver side window and noticed through the reflection from the car next to me that there a dark circle on my rotor. When I got home I saw that there is a circular groove on the rotor which seems like a scratch on the surface. This is absent on the passenger side. Is this normal? any ideas on what is causing this?

The pictures dont do it justice but they are deeper than they seem.

I didnt touch as I had just driven the car but you can actually see the grooves (scratch-like, if you must) if you look closely.

I'll have to inspect the pad soon.

Could just be a pebble stuck in between the pad and rotor.
Do you notice a squeal?

Yeah. I do at low speed braking (maybe <10 mph).

My question is: will the rotor be ok?

Your rotor will probably be fine. Just find out what's causing the grove and remove it.

Totally normal.

If it bothers you get slotted or drilled rotors to keep the pads cut clean. Or take the wheels and caliper's off and clean them manually all the time.

The rotors will be happier the sooner you fix the problem. They will be fine. If you're super anal get the fronts turned or replaced if you have the money. Good luck.
