Last night I watched the top gear where the boys went on a quest to find the greatest driving road in the world, and while we don't have the alps in our back yard, we do have our share of beautiful scenery and wonderful stretches of tarmac.

I want to see if we can find the best driving road in the NW:

1. old mckenzie highway, (oregon)
Other ideas?

I'm going to have to check this one out. My boat is drydocked in Bellingham right now so I will be spending a lot of time up that way.

Ill modify the chuckanut road drive.

Go south on chuckanut road from fairhaven, take a left onto colony road, take a right onto alger cane lake road, then follow that along lake whatcom, take a left onto lake louise road, follow for a ways, turn left onto lakeway and head back to bellingham.

The best loop hands down and there are rarely po-po to discourage the fun. Only takes about 45 minutes depending on how fast you go and its close to town. And its a loop so what can be better.

Hwy 20 past marblemount all the way to winthrop is beautiful when its open (closed in winter for avalanches)

i agree, take it slow, lots of RVs in the summer and bicyclists too, but mostly because of my favorite...deer which have no fear of machines whatsoever, whether its a geo metro or logging truck

Hwy 22 from Spirit Mountain Casino to Pacific City has some legit sections. Careful of the one way bridges though! Lol

Gonna have to check out some of these for sure this summer once it's dry and the summer tires are back on
