Forgive me, I've got a WRX , otherwise I'd do it, I work at a dealership, it's no work at all for them to take a tire off a wheel for me so I can weigh it on the postal scale.

All scales read a little differently....

A couple of weeks ago I weighd my '05 BBS wheel and then a Rota Boost, both 17X8's...one forged, one cast. This was at my friends mail shop.

His scale stated 18 bbs, 18.7 Rota...

I mounted the Rotas up. The BBS were Gold and I wanted to have a different look, thus went with Boost in Steel Gray.

Fast forward.....My girlfriend likes the Gold so she ordered me a set of the Boosts in Gold...I guess she thinks I need multiple sets off wheels like she does shoes..

Anyway I went to a UPS shop around the corner and here you go...

Boosts 20.6....BBS 19.5....

Those scales are "very" accurate according to the manager there. However my buddy's shop did show only a 7 ounce difference...

At any rate it would appear that the worse case is the Rota weighs 17 ounces more than the BBS, accordning to the UPS scale.

This isn't a "quality" comparision...just the weights as asked by a lot of folks..

Phattey...

When the tires get weighed on the wheels, do they have the same amount of tread left. Remember Re070's have very short life, so a tire with a few miles on it fresh from the dealership lot is going to weight a bit more than one with 15k miles on it, especially if it saw any hard driving in that time.

It may not seem like much, but a few 1/32 of an inch is a substantial amount of material over the relative width and circumfrence of the tire.

I got 15.70lbs for a 2004 STI wheel, and 40.55lbs for that wheel mounted balanced and inflated with 225 45 17" Falken Azenis RT615 tires. This was on a very accurate shipping scale.

hmm my stock MY05 STi wheels and (half life'd) 255 RT615s came in at 46lbs.

I'll weigh them again with zero life on the same scale in the next couple days. (since I've got new wheels )

Your stock '05 wheels are 17x8, not 17x7.5 like the 2004 BBSes

Wow, this is an old thread!

Per my professional shipping scale the '05 wheel weighs 19.2 lbs with no wheel weights. All 4 wheels were weighed, and all were within .003 of each other. Still haven't gotten an '04 wheel on my scale tho'.
