Default serious electrical problem

Hey guys,

About two weeks ago I got in my car and put the key in the ignition. When I turned it I lost all electrical power. I went and wiggled the battery around and the power came back. The car started after a few turns of the key. When it idled the rpms were really low, bouncing off what looked like 250 rpms.

This happened 3 times since. Earlier tonight while driving, my headlights and everything in the cabin but my gauges lost power. This happened twice.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Clean the battery connections with a battery post cleaning brush. If that doesn't clear the trouble then you need to check the wire that ties between the battery and the power distribution panel under the hood. Also check the battery ground connection. Make sure it is making a clean connection.

+1 for these suggestions. Also, if you live in an area with vehicles subject to corrosion (near the ocean, in areas where the roads are salted in the winter, etc.), your car's ground connections are subject to poor contact. If this is the case, you'll need to clean most of the major chassis ground connections; primarily those in the engine compartment.
