Just ordered my quad tip CNT exhaust for my 09 WRX... i was looking for pics of the cut rear diffuser, but couldn't find any clear/closeup pictures...

Im mainly wondering how much do i have to cut off on each sides? and what is the best tools used to cut it?

Thanks
John

Nice! johnmx3ze, do you have any picture showing the entire exhaust installed, perhaps an undercarriage picture? I want to see the resonator section. Thanks!

Any help?

EDIT: Also, are there any videos out there of this cat-back without an aftermarket downpipe?

Yes I understand that. I am wondering, since the inlet to the muffler is on the side and not the center, does one side see more exhaust?

I am unsure how the muffler works. I am wonder if there is anything internal that will help guide the exhaust equally to both exits.

If there is nothing guiding the air inside the muffler, the exhaust would have to somehow travel through the muffler like this to exit equally on both sides. See what I saying?

I just installed the catted CNT DP on my 2011 WRX this weekend and am happy with the purchase, overall.
Things I didn't like:
1. No installation guide included. Fortunately a DP install isn't rocket science and if you have the right tools (and a fairly new car), it's not too hard.
2. O2 sensor was pressed up against the heat shield so it rattled when starting the car and in low RPMs in 1st and 2nd gears. I don't know if it was just me/my car/my install or if others have this problem too, but I had to end up trimming a bit off the heat shield to make room between the O2 sensor and the heat shield. Not a big deal but still, seems like a minor design flaw if it's not an isolated occurrence.

Things I liked:
1. Price and availability. I was going to purchase a Cobb but I was in a rush to go stage 2 before dyno day next weekend, and I couldn't find a Cobb DP in stock. Also, the CNT is cheaper than the Cobb and although I know nothing about welds, a friend of mine who is more knowledgeable said they look well done.
2. Fitment (other than the O2 sensor thing). Bolted right up and with the optional 3" to 2.5" adapter, it fit my stock catback. If I ever go with a 3" midpipe, I'll just remove the adapter.

I've only driven with it for 1 and a half days, but drove about 120 miles in that time and this is what I've noticed: You can hear the whistling of the turbine now, in-cabin, and there's more of the "ssshhhhh" noise when going into boost. I used to think that was the compressor wheel (after installing my AEM intake) but that sound has gotten louder so maybe it's the exhaust being diverted by the wastegate? Or the combination of both? Maybe someone can educate me on that. Other than that, the exhaust sounds about the same. I measured decibel ratings at both idle and crusing and they are about the same (again, kept stock catback).
I went with a Torqued Performance stage 2 OTS map, and although I am not hitting target boost in 3rd gear (still going through map revisions to try to isolate the problem), I gained 20-25 tq between 4000 and 6500 RPM according to Virtual Dyno (Mustang dyno setting).

Sedan or HB? How was the fitment besides the O2 sensor issue? Also, did you look inside where the bellmouth meets the piping? was it a smooth transition?

Thanks

That's because the exhaust is made for the STi and 11-13 WRX, the OP had to cut his diffuser to make it work.

I'll be that guy who bumps an old thread. I was leaning towards an ARK GRiP CBE until I came across a few less-than promising threads about quality control issues. This exhaust is almost as sexy as the ARK but at $550 is almost 1/3 the price. But how is the quality over time? Any of the posters in this thread can chime in if they feel the same way about their CNT exhausts? How's the drone? Welds holding up? I really want to make a decision and order my exhaust this weekend, so any help is much appreciated; thanks!

Bump, looking to order this weekend if people have good long-term reviews for the CNT.
