And since we're throwing videos out there:
The top half is my first run, fighting understeer. The bottom half is my fifth run, where I started to figure out the car. Pay attention to the first circle turn, how far from the cones I am in each, and how far ahead I am in the bottom screen by the time I get to the green gate. |

Thanks. Seeing another video helps a lot. I know I need to get tighter but I'm not going to get on myself too much because I didn't have a swaybar. If I'm still doing it next auto-x I will know that's where I really need to improve. Any more tips that you think could make me faster? I'm open to criticism.

I'll throw one of my runs in the mix for comparison. Not my fastest of the day - I shaved a 1.5 seconds off this run time but my go pro batteries had died by then. :-(

Lets talk You called me out remember? said slow cars have to depend on PAX while my "slow car" raw time was faster then your raw time? Lets see you back that up a few more races and see. Just keep in mind I autocross for myself. couldn't give a **** what you do ![]() If in your mind beating an 99 non-turbo 2.5RS with a built STi is a big thing? then so be it. Now turn your attention to the better cars and drivers. your focus is missguided. |

Fast cars rely on PAX ,too as to be able to be scored against the whole field (even faster cars than the "fast cars"). This is to equalize the equipment to better compare driver skill. So, if a driver of the slower car beats the driver of the faster car in PAX, it means the driver of the slower car will beat the driver of the faster car if he drive the faster car and vis-versa.

please don't assume I'm pissed... most know me can say it takes a LOT.
However. my point is we all work very hard to get our times. Some of us (myself) intentionally drive slow cars. My 2.5RS isn't a stock class car. Its a street touring set up with specific mods I want to maintain/autocross with. I don't use PAX to win. In fact I'm not even trying for the championship trophy. I would like the PAX trophy for the year, I won it in 2010. I feel very good about my car performance with or without PAX in mind. I look at my raw times when comparing to others but PAX is what I keep in mind. I've been autocrossing for 6+ years now. I wish we had a PAX class like SCCA had. it was call the Denali class. Basicly everyone in it were not going for other trophies. It was a group of people competing against eachother. It was fun. Getagrip remembers this. He took Denali class a LOT. Him and Kevin Cose. Its that mind set I'm still in. And it helps a 2.5RS get top of the pack finishes against cars with turbo set ups worth more then it. Some of us don't want fast straight line cars. |

The Denali class was pretty cool. Though the season I was in it was the last season it was around. I'm either bad luck and broke it or I'm so awesome everyone gave up! I'm choosing the latter.

... Wow.
OH wait.. I have a solution.. Share a car and settle this once and for all ;-) Hell if we're really going to make a competition out of it.. Codrive a car that neither of you have driven before so you can't claim previous handling knowledge. |

The pax was the same.
However it was a class for people to compete against each other regardless of what they drove. |

No no no...
Denali class was setup similarly to how a Novice or Ladies class is setup. We were not racing against people in our class of car, but against other people at a certain "level." You had to be invited into the class based off of your experience and past results. PAX was the basis used to equalize the car/driver performance. If you want to get away from PAX, "Denali" class as SCCA had it would be put you right back up there. |

Looks like no one knows what it really was, including old discussion on the SCCA forum where nothing was decided on how the class would work.
So you retained your class PAX modifier but raced in the same "Denali" class for a points championship? If so, sounds like a PAX overall... ![]() |

So just found out I'm going to miss this weekends autoX.
I have to work from 11:45-4:30 =\ So I'm thinking I might just show up in the morning, hope for runs to start early, ask if I can be in the first run group and go first, then hopefully make it back in time for another run. Can't miss out on these points and the experience. |
