Default 02 rex 6 speed swap tranny mount and other questions

about to do a 6 speed swap on my 02 bug eye and got a couple last minute questions.

its a usdm 02 wrx and the transmission is from a 2004 subaru wrx sti (usdm).

the plan is to use the stock r160 differential and an automatic drive shaft.

my questions are , do the drive ratios match up (from what i read they are both 3.90) and more importantly what do i do for a transmission mount and subframe brace/crossmember.

No, the final drive does not match up. Only the 06+ STI 6MT has matching ratio to be used with the 3.54 FD in the 02~05 WRX R160.

You'll need to use 6MT transmission mount as well.

They do Have the same final drive. The center and rear differential ratios are different. Your WRX has a 3.9:1 front differential, a 1.1:1 center differential, and a 3.54:1 rear differential. That STI has a 3.9:1 front differential, a 1:1 center differential, and a 3.9:1 rear differential.

ok, thanks for explaining it. so in order to do this swap i would need to also use the rear diff and drive shaft from that sti. and in order to use that differential yet retain the 5x100 bolt pattern (as my rims are 5x100) id need to go with a set of early 04 5x100 brembos?

There are a few options:

1. Find a set of 04 STi rear hubs + brembo/FHI 2pots setup.

2. Get Legacy Spec B axles.

3. Get the Missing Link.

Do some search and reading, all the info is available if you are willing to learn.
