I'm also curious how you broke a forged piston instead of losing a rod or bearing, etc.

I'm sure you can find some sort of wing element out there and make custom mounts out of aluminum to mount onto your hatch/roof.

I'm pretty sure I'm just going to run fog light covers for the track and zip tie the duct hose on when I'm swapping over to the track wheels. Too risky if something starts dangling when I'm driving on the street making tight turns a hose might catch or something.

For sure man! Let me know when you plan to come out. If I can get the car fixed fast enough I want to be able to go to the turn2lapping.com event again on June 1st.
That's where the roo ducts come in handy, less hose to get tangled up... (http://rooducts.randyzimmer.com/) and (http://www.randyzimmer.com/carbon/airducts/). I have the ABS ones and they look pretty cool.

I bought an APR Drag wing from a friend of mine in CA who had it on his time attack focus and that's on there now... looks a bit ricey, but function over looks!

My engine is being dropped in next week, so all I need now is to finish installing my fire suppression, aquamist HFS-4 and killswitch and I'm ready to break 'r in!

Not sure if I'll be able to make June 1st (or if you even are, for that matter ), but the next one I'll try to be there!

Are you going to that Ridge Motorsports Park event the end of June? (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2347499)

do you know what broke yet? sounds like a ringland too, though they aren't supposed to go on a nice piston and ring set...

your car is nuts man, mad respek!
I think somewhere between 18-19,000 miles on the short block. Heads had maybe like 9,000 miles. I just filled up a full tank of 92 octane at the Arco gas station. After that it was hesitating under boost. Pretty sure when I pull the motor out I'm going to see pre-ignition or a melted piston. I felt it hesitating and I should have pulled off the track at that point but I kept going... oh well! We will find out soon enough.

Oh damn that looks sick. But $400???!?

Nice, can't wait to see the car back on the road.

That event seems quite expensive. Probably going to go with this group: http://ridgeracingschool.com/

Do 4 events in a year and the 5th one is free! $250 bucks too.

This is the second time I damaged a piston. Last time meth failsafe didn't work because of Vi-pec firmware upgrade that wasn't fully tested... so EGT went super high and piston melted a bit. I'm assuming detonation this time.

I've always been super anal about my oil clearances on my bearings as well as my oil pressure so I'm always good in that department.

I'm still running around with low comp on cylinder 4 till I can get my spare block figured out. Waiting to hear from Dom if he has one available sleeved block right now I can take and swap for mine.

Right now just ordering a new piston, main and rod bearings, piston rings, case bolts, gasket kit, etc to swap things over once I get the new block.

Should be back up and running soon if parts come quickly
Hopefully everything works out for you! My 1st motor was due to an off tune, something wasnt right, i was tuning it my self and it ran good for awhile then one day i got on it hard and started having issues. The second block had a ringland failure due to a lean condition when my turbo inlet collapsed. Sad day but i was really wanting to go rotated anyways.

Im gonna kinda use a similar setup like yours, turbo wise at least. That sx300 spools pretty quick for the size ive been told. True or not true? I figure your hitting full boost at 4k-4500?

im un decided if i am going to run one fog light cover and make an air intake (running speed density) or dual and get brake ducts. im going to run out of space soon in that area as i plan on having my external gate exit out the side of the bumper right there too

Yeah it spools quick. 4th gear pull one time I hit full boost in the 3800-3900 range.

Previous tank was 76... which I've run many times and on the dyno. No problems.

Filled Arco and the rest is history

hahahahaha yep! im still on a stock manifold so i gotta look into it more. next time im at work im going to get on a lift and figure it out. will most likely be something for me to do when i go rotated (pte 5858 waterless dbb billet) next year. the thing is i really want to run a killer b header or full race, but full race is out of my dollar range and killer b dosnt make a rotated up pipe to my knowlege.

Yeah I always wanted a long rod 2.5 from Dom but my rods are still good as well as 3 pistons Setup has provided what I need so far. Maybe down the road when I have more money.
