All WRX's are 5 x 100mm wheel fitments.

The '04 STi also has 5 x 100mm, so if you come across a set of the BBS wheels that someone is willing to sell you for a decent price, I'd say to jump on it!

Default wrx to sti turbo upgrade

i have a 2010 wrx with full exhaust intake and a AP with stage 2 tune. i really want to get a STI turbo from a 2010 or 2011 but im not sure what my turbo is or the STI turbo. also im not sure what mods i would need to do. is it as simple as taking off the stock wrx turbo and putting on the STI one? will i need to change the fuel pump, injectors anything?!?! does a WRX and a STI have the same internals? please let me know im new to subarus and really trying to make my car a quick daily driver.

2009+ WRX turbo = VF52
2008+ STI turbo = VF48

its been said that the two are very similar. imo not worth the upgrade. do a quick search and you can find more information on each respectively.

Don't quote me but from what I've heard the only difference between vf48 and vf52 is in the turbo/intercooler connection. Example: you cannot swap a 2011 wrx intercooler with a 2011 sti one because the piping won't match up due to the point of connection being in different locations. I believe the wrx one runs straight up to the intercooler on the left side whereas the sti connects more in the middle of its intercooler. No difference between the two otherwise. I have heard that the sti internals are not only different but stronger as well. Hopefully that gives you somewhere to start your search.

IMO waste of money. VF52 performs very similar. Just get a pro-tune if you havent already and talk to your local tuner for more info about upgrades.

Your friend also has a td04 in his 08wrx. Not the vf52 09+ has.

I already tried to drop a legacy into my WRX, it just ended up crushing the car and making a huge mess!

Sounds like a bushings problem. Upgrade everything to kartboy and add a bov. Then sit back and enjoy.

Not sure on the intercooler part, I cant see subaru rotating the turbo slightly to accommodate for a bigger intercooler.

the difference between the 2 turbos is mainly the wastegate to hold boost better, also the dimensions are very very slightly different.

The STi internals are not different other than the pistons which are domed more but only slightly. Between the 2 motors one is no stronger than the other as they both have the same issues with ringlands (as far as pistons go). the big difference in the STi motors are their heads, they flow much better than the stock WRX heads, but I have been told that modded ej255 heads vs modded ej257 heads the 255 heads flow much better.

2011-2012 wrx vs sti is very minimal. The tranny and suspention is what you pay for, as for power, a pro tune on a wrx will get you the same power as a STOCK STi, along with some simple bolt ons.
