Do you know about 04-05 STi TMIC fitment on the 2011's? Whether or not there's modding involved..etc.

Way to go offering bad info JMHM17.
Not sure on the intercooler part, I cant see subaru rotating the turbo slightly to accommodate for a bigger intercooler. Intercoolers do not interchange. the difference between the 2 turbos is mainly the wastegate to hold boost better, also the dimensions are very very slightly different. No good info here. The STi internals are not different other than the pistons which are domed more but only slightly. Between the 2 motors one is no stronger than the other as they both have the same issues with ringlands (as far as pistons go). the big difference in the STi motors are their heads, they flow much better than the stock WRX heads, but I have been told that modded ej255 heads vs modded ej257 heads the 255 heads flow much better. The pistons are not domed more as they are lower compression. Maybe inverted dome? 2011-2012 wrx vs sti is very minimal. The tranny and suspention is what you pay for, as for power, a pro tune on a wrx will get you the same power as a STOCK STi, along with some simple bolt ons. Many WRX's have been dyno'd to have very similar peak HP and TQ outputs stock. On the STI you also get "upgraded" diffs, Brembo brakes, and 18x8.5" wheels. My 2 pennies worth. I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this but I couldn't find a more appropriate thread and I am unable to create a new thread because I just created this account.
I just got a 2008 GT last week and am very pleased, but with one possible issue. I have a steep uphill driveway where it is possible to stall-out from not giving enough gas. Thankfully, the first time I stalled the GT was in the driveway and not on a road, because I was unable to restart. The entire car would power on with lights, radio and everything internal, but nothing whatsoever sent to the engine, so it seems like some computer-related issue. I tried every possible combination I could think of such as trying from reverse, neutral, or first, parking brake on/off, putting the key into different positions and taking it out completely. I honestly do not know exactly what if anything I did different, but it eventually turned on after about 5-10 minutes so I parked in the garage and left it for the night. The next day I intentionally tried to reproduce the issue to see if it would happen again and if I could figure out what triggered it to eventually work. The same thing occurred and nothing I tried was working at all. I eventually 'gave up' and was just going to park in the driveway so I opened the door to go inside. I figured what the hell, I should try one last time, and lo and behold, it did start up. Therefore, the only thing I can think is that opening the door reset or cleared something related to the stalling but that doesn't really make sense. I called the dealer and scheduled a service appointment for next week but I figure that it wouldn't hurt to ask here if anyone has experienced anything similar or has suggestions. |

I'm new to Subaru, and some people say to stay away from BOV's, then others say that as long as its recirculated it will be fine. What have u guys found to be the best so far?

The stock valve on our cars is a recirculating valve not a bov the only reason to get a new recirc valve is if yours is leaking. Bov's release the air into the atmosphere, this air has already been "seen" by the mass air flow sensor and your ecu has determined the fuel needed for that amount of air. Therefore when the air is released instead of recirculated, your car will run slightly rich. Please Google if you need more info, unibombers manifesto probably has bov info in it as well.

read all 18 pages, no mention of header fitment between GD and GR?
header may be slightly different up pipe may be slightly different but what about the COMBO of the two? is the turbo in the same location relative to the exhaust ports? IE, will a header up pipe combo from a GD fit on the new cars? they use the same motor, so my inclination is yes, but i havent seen any confirmed results. some people say yes, some people say no. anyone have a definitive answer? |
