That said, props for doing something different.
I had the fenders rolled way before hand, then after doing some test fitting/driving through a dip at the tire parking lot I had to massage the pinch weld in the front wheel well and slightly trim the rocker but not much. Now it I have no rubbing at all it drives just fine. With the stock STi springs still on it and with these tires having really good sidewalls it still handles pretty good. I wanted something fast but functional, something with character, I think the GR sti with the bulging fenders fit it perfectly, it meets every single one of my needs/wants now.

Thanks Joe!! Haven't had much fun yet though, at least not post-brush guard, but I will soon enough, after this painting (and truck bed liner) is done with. Definitely know the area you are talking about, if you saw pics of the bumper before, you would see I knew it intimately. Drilled it and zip-tied it many, many times. No more of that now, just have to install my remaining splash guard I just picked up from Lowes; some really flexible & tough feeling .08" plastic sheet. What are you going to do with the holes you'll have with the sides of the bumper skin gone? Or are you just chopping some of the bottom off?

Oh no, I'm not going to chop anything. Just letting nature take it's course (that is the nature of dirt monsters behind the wheel ) and it'll eventually need some serious attention like you have given it. Currently only one side is zip tied, lol. I'm looking for something not all too difficult to work with and mold to a 'proper' front lip. Not sure how the custom skid plate will work with anything other than stock height in the middle section, but those sides are going to go one way or another Might be at the event tomorrow for all I know

I don't why it was closed. And the moderator to me didn't make sense. Why do I have to play with my subie in a sanctioned event. Off road trucks don't so why should I. They are just as unsafe and dangerous. When I was in Nevada I used to go with my buddy and his wrx out in the middle of the desert all the time and never had a problem. If I want to tale my car down a winding dirt road and end up putting it in a tree that's my prob. Same as if a four wheeling guy rolls his truck bc it was to steep, its his fault. Now when I say this don't anybody get mad or sense any disrespect but I feel he was out of place by saying that and rather confused why it was closed.

Beg to differ. All the people I know who offraoad, and its a lot of people all run in sanctioned areas and/or during events.

The only ones who dont are usually drunk rednecks, and soon after get a roadside shrine dedicated to them.

Guess you don't get out much then. I know a lot of people in diff states who off road, from Nevada to Washington to a place near me(cars can't go), that isn't sanctioned and isn't full of red necks and I've never seen nor heard of people getting hurt. Maybe its just that I hang around a more intelligent group of people. Just because its sanctioned doesn't mean its safer. I've seen a Crap ton of stories and photos of spectators getting takin out at wrc events.

^Moab is a very good example, if people only went during "sanctioned" events that town would dry up...

You can't compare trucks to cars. They're traveling at most, 15 mph. And on trails, not roads that other cars, hikers, and cyclists use.

Burkart is encouraging people to drive recklessly on these roads. If you think that's ok, you need to pull your head out of your ass.

As I said before I hang with intelligent people. It's kind of obvious not to do it on those roads. It's called a open field or a stretch of road no one goes down or lives on. Maybe you should pull your head out and think a little. Not every one is a retard and I'm tired of people like you assuming that. There's places like that out there and it would be nice to know where some of them are around.

Same here. I've been offroading for a large majority of my life. I've only been to one organized event, and there were far more drunk idiots there than when a few buddies and I go out (there aren't any when we go out). At that one organized event I went to, there were 5 people that had to go to the hospital. Two of them by helicopter. About a dozen trucks were totaled. The cops were called several times because people were cranking up their straight piped v8s at all hours of the night in our camp grounds. Two people got DUIs because they stayed up all night drinking and tried to hit the trails with their groups the second day of the event. It was chaos. The only injuries we've ever had were to our vehicles, and even that has been pretty minor stuff.

An open field, fine. A road that no one goes down? Unless you have people at each end with radios you have no idea who's on that road. And if you think that's safer than an event that has vehicle inspection, safety requirements, and a medical staff, you're not so intelligent.

It'd be nice to know where i could get an eight ball too. It's illegal activity and a private forum isn't going to allow it.

If u guys read to the end he was also talking about areas that are set up to let people do this kind of stuff. That's why he mentioned the park fees and other stuff. There's a place in Nevada that was set up like that. It was a dirt track and if you wanted to push your car you could. I like his thread idea. Id like to know of places around me that I can go have fun with my car off road that's safer for cars. It should be up to each reader if they go or not and what they do when there. By what your saying we can't go to places like that and its illegal to post such places. So if that's the case why wasn't the Google link up a few posts deleted? That wasn't a sanction.ed event was it. I give him props for having a good idea. Some people just need to thinly a bit more. If he wants to go and do crazy stuff and hurt someone that's his fault not mine. I just want to find a open area or road that has nothing on it and go play around. Will I be doin 100 mph off road...bc stock cars can't do it. Was he...prob not just exaggerating and enthusiastic about it...
