you non oem nav guys are lucky with BT streaming. the oem nav screws you out of that, and on top of it we had to install an additional media hub to get the ipod usb connection/charger

it sure does! stock oem nav only has inputs for A/V. you need to add the media hub to get the USB port. the media hub on non nav headunits already include the usb port, and BT streaming.

Today I started to work on the dash pod to get it ready for the new gauges next week.
It's a work in progress but since I'm not going to be able to do it all in one day I will update the thread as I go along.
The finished result should be a smooth Alcantara wrapped pod with three 60mm gauges that fits tight onto the dash.

Here is what they send you... Remember this is supposed to be a complete fitting pod out of the box. Hmmmmmmmmm, I think not

Here is the rubber top that I'm peeling off to get to solid plastic to work with.

Here is the rubber top removed, tons of residue to clean off.

I used a wire wheel on a drill to rip the rubber off quickly.

After it was removed I sanded it down using 120 grit, then 220

This is where I'm at now, got it ready to use the heat gun to re-form the pod to really fit the dash like it should have came from ATI.

That's it for the weekend though, I'm heading to NY for Mothers day and I'll continue once I get back, lot more to do to this one...

Took the day off from my car to work on the wife's. It's a 2008 Mazda3 Hatch in White
We just put on the new Sparco Assetto Gara wheels (Matte Graphite Silver) 17x7.5 +45 with my 235/45-17 Dunlop SP Sport 01's from my WRX.
Also through on Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs too!!

I'm surprised that the ATI pod wasn't a nice fit..

I have been wondering about the fit on this. Most of the install pics on the websites haven't been that great and this gives a pretty clear idea that there will be some modification required especially on the drivers side

Thanks everyone, it was a project that iIve been wanting to do since I first got the car and one part is finally done. Next and last big change will be to wrap the whole dash in Alcantara. I can't wait!!

I got to say, I'll need once of those lint rollers... The black Alcantara loves to hold onto dust if you decide to crack a window on a windy day.

Overland04 - what are your overall thoughts on the Prosport gauges thus far? I was about to pull the trigger on a boost gauge until I started reading all of the drama going on regarding Prosport in the part review section. The price is extremely enticing though.

I've had both the 52mm premium version and now the new 60mm version. Both are accurate within a pound of boost for me but I have to say that they have been worth every penny. I'm only using them for street use and I have about 6 months on the sensors without a problem.

The 52mm have a different peak/recall button then the 60mm. The 52mm button rattles a little bit which can be annoying but I placed a dot of clear silicone behind the button and it's all good now.
The color is a little washed out on the Amber/White needle 52mm compared to stock and without the hoods on they are tough to read in the daytime. The 60mm Amber have a really nice deep color but since they are smoked lenses, they are dim in the daylight but beautiful at night.

All three I have are working well and I'm glad I saved the $600 by going with ProSport. Yeah, if someone gave me DEFI gauges, I'd switch but I can't see the point for a daily driver..

Cheers mate!

^^^ Perfect, thanks guys.
I am in the exact same boat and just need something to be able to monitor my boost at stage 1. I'll go with the Prosport for now then, look into an upgrade in the future when I get some more mods on.

Ok, back to the Brembo's

Here is the final color, it's burnt orange by VHT. I love it! It's a lot darker in person but I'm in a rush to get these up and not to edit images all night.
I still have to add the decals and clear, clear, clear....

Spraying second coat of color

Huge caliper or small oven? Baked at 200 degrees for 30 minutes

Spraying two coats of Hi-Temp Primer

Ready to Prime

Looks like a toaster more then a oven haha looks great! The steel gray is the color you got for the alacantra right? How do you think it looks in contrast to the black? I mean does it stick out like a sore thumb sometimes? In some of the pics its looks bright gray and some it looks dark.

Hey Cliff,
Yeah, it's a toaster oven, you got me...
The two colors are Black and Steel Grey and I feel is a perfect contrast of colors. It only looks way different in some of my pictures because of lighting. In person its a minor difference but still gives a great separation between the two colors.

Here are the completed front Brembo Calipers.
I'm so amazed of how good they came out for a rattle can.

2 Coats of Primer
2 Coats of Color - Burnt Orange
3 Coats of Clear
2 Hours in 200 degree oven left to cool slowly overnight.

Thanks guys!
I still can't believe how good that VHT Caliper paint is... It's like smooth glass when done right.

Here's the before and after...
