New '12 STi owner in DFW, TX area

Hello,

I've been lurking here for months, well before I bought my STi. In my first few visits I learned that some dealers may also be lurking and was able to identify a member who was working with the same sales guy I had at Sewell so I decided to hang back until everything was settled.

I bought my car April 20th and have put ~2300 miles on it. Had it in for service once, it was pulling to the right pretty hard and after convincing the tech at Sewell it wasn't just road crown they put it up on the rack and found front and rear passenger side toe in was out of spec. They fixed it under warranty and notified the regional rep of the issue. The pull has come back and I'll be taking it back in as soon as I can. Otherwise I love it! My last ride was a '11 FXT, my first Subaru. It's a great vehicle but I just couldn't stand the 4EAT.

I'll post some pics sooner or later. Thanks to those before me that have asked and/or answered the questions I have and those I haven't thought of yet.

Welcome to the forum, otto. Have the dealer check your right side tires for uneven wear as well. Having toe out of spec will eat through tires quicker than anything, especially if it's only out of spec on one side of the car. Been there, done that in my previous car.

Yes, there is some odd wear on the right side and a sort of oscillating hum that varies with vehicle speed. I've got an appointment booked at the dealer and am going to push them to find the cause since it has happened again after being fixed 1000 or so miles ago.

I would push them to replace the two right side tires as well, since they know toe was out of spec from the get go.

I've been to Dallas/Ft. Worth and saw what hail can do to a car. Golf ball sized dents on the hood, roof and trunk. Find shelter, OP!

Thanks all for your concern. I work from home and so my car stays in the garage. The wife OTOH likes to park in the driveway and I was out in the hail around 3 a.m. today pulling her's in too. I happened to be up working when it started so I got it in just as the hail started, no damage that I could see and she has garage parking at work.
