I am moving from VA to WA in July (approx 2,860 miles) and saw a few people carried uhauls. I have a 2007 wrx 5 door and was hoping to carry a uhaul 5x8 trailer while keeping it below 2000lbs. Any feedback would be much appreciated, thank you!

I went from Atlanta, GA to Los Angeles with a 4x8 that was 1800 pounds total. I still got about 25 MPGs on the highway but it took a while to get up to 65mph. just drive smart and you should be good.

You'll be fine, with my 02 in fifth gear I'm pulling around 2800 rpms at about 70ish. That nets me ~23mpg on 400 mile trips to Idaho and back. Any faster and mileage is crippled, any slower and I fear I'll never get there.

Just take it easy, and be smart about stopping distances and speeds and you'll do fine.

Does this one count? I used and abused my 05 rs and she loved every minute of it. This was not the first time I had to rescue a vehicle... Long story short-
Rastafari guy in a pizza delivery volvo pulls down an ice slicked driveway with summer tires and fwd. I'm dropping off my friend and see him just sitting there spinning his tires for like ten minutes not going anywhere so I ask what he's doing. He said he didn't know what else to do. So I offer to give him a pull. As you can see from the video I couldnt quite make it over the last steepest crest of the hill... I get out and tell him I'm not sure if I can get over the crest.. he proceeds to ask: "would it help if I put it in drive instead of neutral?" So yea.. this is dragging dead weight.

I pull my Ninja all over, Drag Days, Track Days, and Bike Rallys. Pulls great with a curt hitch and a 5x8 wooden deck trailer. Here are some pictures...

Default Hitch for 1984 GL?

I'm trying to find a hitch for my 1984 GL so I can tow a very small (42"x42") trailer all of 6 miles from the gas station to the airport. It is used to haul ethanol free autogas to fuel a plane with an STC. None of the hitch sales websites I've been able to find have listed anything for the 84. Any suggestions would be appreciated

One would think you'd have to get one for an '87 and make do best you could...

I installed the uhaul hitch for my 09 wrx. Was a fairly painless install with use of dremel tool and a quick trip to home depot for some more durable hardware.

Pulled probably 1100lbs on a 260 mile highway trip. Allowed for plenty of driving room and extra care in paying attention to how the extra weight changed driving dynamics.

Quick question...

I just "installed" a Curt hitch on a '07 WRX with stock exhaust and STI tip. The hangers went on fine and TWO of the FOUR frame rail bolts went in like butter. The other two, one on each side WILL not thread. I cannot get them to catch and everything lines up 99.9%

Rethread? Try different bolts, maybe longer? Thread locker? Need some HELP!

Thanks

are the first two bolts tight, or loose?

don't tighten any until all 4 have a few turns of threads caught...

I had a similar problem with the hardware for my install. Took a trip to Home Depot for new nuts and bolts.

+1 ^^ Don't tighten them down until all are threaded properly.

Curt Hitch, Kartboy XL hangers, and just a little bit of trimming on the bumper.

Pulls the Arctic kitty all day long.

My friend went to wyotech in wyoming. towed his tool box and all his tools in a u haul from wyoming to Vermont. then got offered a good job in cali and towed them from vermont to cali, behind his 06 wrx. no issues. he said it took a little while for his rear suspension to level back out again as it was compressed for the whole drive, but as far as towing capabilities etc he had no issues.

Good idea or bad idea?

I have this:

I want to tow this?

Polaris RZR XP4 900 has a dry weight of about 1300 lbs. and a wheelbase of 107" and a width of 64". a the wheels.

I have no doubt that this will look moderately rediculous if I get it to work. I just hope my car has the capacity to pull it. I realize the trailer will contribute considerably to the weight I will be pulling, but Ive heard these things do fine puling up to 2000 lbs.
