CRY for help...wiring problems 02wrx swap.

Ok, well here's some background info.

I bought a 2004 rs with a blown motor in hopes of swapping ...soon a friend crashed his wrx and i bought it with rear end damage only.

Before i started the swap ...i started the wrx in my driveway and it ran perfectly ....just no driving because the rear was smashed to hell.

Soon i started the swap and i learned of all the things that actually have to be swapped over. ......i decided to swap over the entire wrx harness, which soon included everything.

(LITERALLY EVERY WRX WIRING PART HAS BEEN SWAPPED OVER, IF IT HAD A WIRE ON IT THE WRX VERSION WENT IN THE CAR)....except the gas tank, here i used a wrx fuel tank harness on the 04 tank. It plugged in the the fuel pump, the drivers side 2 wire and one center sensor, however there was a sensor that was in use on the 04rs setup, but had no plug for it on the wrx fuel tank harness.

Today i finally had the engine back in, all the things needed to start the car were there, and i tried to start the car, no luck. Here's where things get bad.

A whole stray of electrical problems came up and ill start a list of what they were.

1.Abs kept pulsing, and would only stop when the key was in running position, or we stepped on the brake.
2.We didn't hear the fuel pump but we smelled gas.
3.Wipers will turn off only in the intermittent slot....all other places they turn on.
4.We hooked up a scanguage to the obd2 port, and it got power, but no reading or connection to the ecu (im not sure but i think the term is no data link?)
5.Windows work even when the key is out of the ignition.
6.We got the battery idiot light, but only after trying to start, before that just sitting in running pos. it would be off.
7. upon turning the key to anything other than off ....i would get an odd whine, then the wipers would go off once, then nothing.

Still no start up or for that matter even any attempted cranking. I'm thinking it could be a short somewhere but I'm really no good with wiring so I'm asking those with more authority in this matter.

I'm trying my best at everything i do here but I'm getting a little fed up with my choice to swap.

Being that I'm 16,

, every penny i saved up went in to buying my car and the donor car....I don't have the option of selling it as an incomplete swap, and i don't have big money to send it out to a shop for the wiring.....can anyone help out a guy who's trying his best but is up to his neck in trouble?

Start by checking the grounds and make sure they are tight...

Do you have a full wiring schematics for each car?

i did a basic shake down of the car pre start ....i have the 02 wrx diagrams but not 04rs ...ill look in to those.

You definitely need to get the schematics for the other car and compare them side by side.

Did you get the fuel pump control module out of the trunk of the wrx and swap that as well?

Make sure that plug is all the way down on the abs control module, it fits kind of weird.

I know that the wiring for the windshield wipers for my 02 wrx to 04 sti swap was different, the plugs were the same but the pin orientation was different.

Is the fuel tank pick-up even the same between turbo and non-turbo models? Did you swap the pick-up?

That sensor that wouldn't plug in on the tank is probably the purge control solenoid valve. it will cause a check engine light, which you will have to delete with a tune of some sort.

Also, check all your fuses. You probably blew a few already.

good to know about the wipers too
I decided I'm just going to swap the tankfrom the Wrx ....to avoid complications

Triple check all grounds.. run your hands over the loom and feel for tails sticking out with engine grounds under the hood.. Missing a ground some where can cause all kinds of crazy issues as current backs around the harness.

I STARTED!!! .....just so happens i thought i had hooked up the ground on the alternator, when in fact i did not. ......odd enough ...that stoped all the problems i was having, including the abs pulsing.
