Subaru sold FWD versions of their cars in Canada until 1997... and prior to the Legacy ('89) and Impreza ('93) Subaru's lineup had FWD or part-time 4WD available on all but a very few top-tier models which had AWD. Subaru went AWD-only in North America for marketing reasons. They wanted to ride the successful outdoorsy image of the Outback brand.

I guess the great thing about a blog is that nobody expects you to get the facts straight.
