So about a month ago I ordered a set of ebc's front and rear usr (slotted) rotors and their red stuff pads, from the website description it almost sounded too good to be true, the pads are described as low dust and low noise and the rotors are described as having very little road noise as well, however my dad got an ebc brake setup for his jeep and miata (he went with the dimpled and slotted rotors front and rear as well as their greenstuff pads) and said that after a few hundred miles are fantastic
So I got the pads and rotors from their site for about $460 shipped after using one of their $50 off coupon for any order of $500 or more (before the coupon it was $510) and within 4 days had the parts outside my door, the pads and rotors both came with a bed-in coating that vanishes after the very first use....the install was very easy (as any simple brake job should be) and took me less than 2 hours to complete....I followed their bed in procedure which was to go easy for about 50 miles or so and then at 200 miles to do a few hard slowdowns from 60-20 (I know some private roads I was able to do this on without putting anyone in danger including myself) and for the first 200 miles its very obvious that the initial grab on these is intense.....so now its been close to 500 miles and all brake noise has basically vanished, the initial bite is extremely impressive and it holds the whole way until you come to a stop.....I haven't checked for dust on the inside of the wheel but when I get my winter setup off ill be able to update this post with a figure of how much dust they actually produce Pros: low noise, great stopping power, very strong feel in the pedal Cons: don't seem to be too great when snow gets in there, but could've just been me ill have to get more chances to use them in the snow So far, despite the low mileage, I would absolutely recommend this setup to anyone who has a mild dd setup, not only does it look great but it perfoms awesome as well and ebc has very fast shipping though their tracking numbers will send you for a spin everything will show up at your door and they'll inform you of any delays or mishaps I will continue to update this post as required the more mileage I put on these brakes, if anyone wants pictures just ask I can't post them up right now

I had zero problems with these in the snow, the rotors worked great didn't trap any snow at all, 5 months later they're working great
After I got used to using them more they became a blast in the snow, it took a little getting used to....the abs on the car is more dangerous than the actual brakes, these allow you to overpower the abs and stop the car if you need to which is a life saver sometimes Last edited by brew02wrx; 06-11-2012 at 11:52 PM. |

I had to change the front pads after 1 full year of nonstop use, pad life is approx 25k miles or so with a good amount being hard driving (nothing above 100mph really though, mostly backroads) the rear pads still have about 30% life in them and the rotors barely look worn. All in all this setup was excellent, provided excellent brake feel and excellent initial bite the whole way, these brakes are very predictable and I would recommend this setup to anyone. The only downside with the USR and redstuff combo is the noise the aggressive pad makes against the aggressive rotor. I switched to project Mu NF series brakes and the noise is gone but all the feel and bite is still there, all in all probably a better pad than the redstuff.
