DSMtoWRX, I have had the same problem, but when I used the remote start, and mine ended up with an empty 4L tank and a stumbling engine. The starter would do funky things to the Devil's Own controller causing it to run 100%. I moved the positive to the 3rd power setting (key in run position, and moved it to the fuse box), as well as a dedicated ground, and didn't have any problems. I wired up a switch to the power and solenoid just in case, but never had a problem. Just move the power and ground and see if that fixes things.

Depending on where you had the wiring tied into the ignition source, they may have had to disconnect it for the remote start installation and then reconnected it incorrectly. I would def. check the wiring and take the power off an unused fuse (or if there are no unused fuses, use one thats not necessary for driving... ie cig. lighter, etc).

Thanks guys. Still not sure how the controller is turning on the pump even if there is power there but makes was thinking something must be up with the power. I'll get under her this weekend and see if I can figure the wriring out myself. Install the meth myself but not the remote start so should be fun...

You are the best person to find this out. 1) Where is the red wire of the molex wired to? |

molex? I assume that means the power supply for the board/controller?

molex is the 4-pin power in connector.
This is for the HFS-6... Ideally, relocate the red wire of the yellow harness directly to the fuel injector (+). This way, the system can only come on when the fuel injectors are powered up. |

Sticking relay... who knew! Got her going and finally a meth tune. Good times. Took me a while but glad it finally paid off. Brits must be doing something right with the addition of the ECUTEK map switching on the SI drive i have a meth map and no meth map at my figure tips. Again, good times

Never guess that in a million year.
ECUTEK has incorporated a switchable meth map? |

Not neesacarily a meth map, but switchable maps on the fly regardless

Amazed, I have asked them to do this since 2004. Better be late than never.

Is there an upgrade path from DDS3/HFS6 to DDS4?

The HFS-6 is a more advanced syste on conventional engines. The HFS-4 is designed for DI engines.

For DI engines, the HFS-4 is always better.

Hi Richard,
I recently purchased a HFS-4 twin tank setup from Howerton Engineering, and I am about to hook it up. I just have a few questions: I have a 2005 STi with a quad nozzle setup, 4 x 0.8mm, nozzles, one on top of each manifold runner. Is there anything special I need to do to the board or any adjustments I need to make, like jumpers to solder or anything? Or is it really as simple as green wire to injectors (Pin B136 3/4/5/6), Red wire to Ignition (Pin B137 14) and Blue wire to MAP sensor (Pin B136 22)? I am running 50/50. Thanks! |

You are injecting quite a bit of 50:50, what is your planned power output? Don't forget to configure the MAP sensor type (underside of the controller). |

I have a twinscroll GT35R with 1000cc injectors. Thinking of around 550 AWHP.
If I look at the pressure vs flow graph (page 8), it seems that for 20% (50:50) of 1000cc injectors, so 200cc, and 135 PSi (25 PSi of boost), I should have used 4 x 0.6mm jets, rather than the 0.8mm's. Would you recommend switching them, or will the 0.8's be overkill, but fine? Also, since I have 4 jets, I opted to not install any restrictor in the flow sensor, do you agree? I have a 3.5 Bar MAP sensor, so I need to change the board, thanks for the heads up! |

I was about to upgrade from a HFS-5 to a HFS-6 because so I can adjust the IDC gain and boost comp. Now I read that the HFS-6 is discontinued. What is my best option now? Better to buy a HFS-4 or find a used HFS-6? Thanks in advance |

If you want IDC and boost pressure scaling, you need to get the HFS4. There is no direct upgrade path.
The HFS4 can do all the HFS-6 function. It is a good investment for the future when Subaru goes Direct injection. |

Just spoke to Jeff at Howerton and ordered 4 x 0.6mm and 4 in line check valves, so now I am good to go!
Thanks for the feedback! |

Two questions about minimizing conversion time / chiropractor bills: - Is the old style 100 micron inline puck filter functionally equivalent to the new in-tank filter (besides its propensity to leak with aging hose)? - Is the old Shurflo pump 4-bolt footprint / mounting pattern the same as the new Aquatec pump 4-boot footprint? Thanks Richard! |
