Default replacing power steering hose

Removing my ps pump this weekend i noticed my high pressure hose coming from the pump is hard as hell. I was initially going to replace the old clamps with new screw type clamps. It seems like the OEM ps hose are expensive from the dealership so can't i just go to autozone and buy power steering hose? I have searched and it seems like most people just replace the hose with OEM ones...

Yes, but you cant just make a high pressure hose with a length of hose and 2 hose clamps. The steering rack takes special fittings and the pump takes a banjo fitting. A braided stainless steel line will be around $100 with the correct ends.

your high pressure one should be carefully made with hydraulic fittings,
your suction one from reservoir to the pump should be fine to be replaced with a similar grade hose.
you had mentioned to different hoses and they require two very different hoses/types
