I currently have an 06 impreza 2.5i with only 50xxxx miles. I want to upgrade to either a wrx or sti, so my question is... Would it be worth the money to get an WRX/STI engine swap into my current car, or just sell what i have and use the money to buy a WRX/STI??? Let me know what you think...

If you want to go the WRX/STi route, then you have some options to consider:
How much money do you want to spend? Do you want to spend it all at once or would it be better to do it as-you-go? Do you want to buy something more turn-key, or do you want to work on your car yourself? Even if you buy a used WRX/STi, you still have to consider that you are unaware of what may be wrong with the car you buy, so you may have to fix a little or a lot of things. If you get the WRX/STi, it will come with suspension changes not available on your current car, BUT you can modify your suspension with upgrades to be WRX/STi-like. Get the idea? |

Buy a salvaged STI donor car for approx 4-6k or a WRX for 2-3k and swap everything over, check out copart.com. Why buy another 25k+ car, unless u want it to be turn key and don't want the down time associated with swapping everything over. But if u don't mind getting dirty and spending the time doing the swap it can be cost effective.

This is one of those questions that if you have to ask...
Just jack up the radiator cap on your 2.5i and drive a WRX, or STi underneath. |
