Im signed up and ready to volunteer! Being the first time here at NEFR, im really really pumped, I have been at LSPR and Sno Drift the last 5 years and just hit STPR on my way out here. I am riding up solo from Kittery Maine / Portsmouth NH area. Id caravan up with others if thats possible. That being said, what are the best options for sleeping?

Ill bring my guns and pop rounds in the w00ds!

Is there a map of all the stages posted on the site that I can't find? There was one in a PDF last year.

Not yet.

As I mentioned above, there have been massive changes to the route this year. As a result, spectating opportunities are going to be significantly limited, so the best way to see the action is to volunteer!!!

Very pleased to hear a bit of excitement for the rally and to help out. Remember when you sign up. You get to be places "outsiders" will not be aloud, a great polo, tin NEFR sign, bunch of stickers. Coupons. And the huge great fullness from the drives and co-drives. And this year you with be entered in to a drawing to win some freaking sweet prizes. U

See you guys soon!

Has anyone who has signed up to volunteer gotten any response other than a confirmation? I guess it is still a week out but I haven't heard when or where they will need me. I signed up for any position but gave preferences and I guess I am just curious as to what my job will be and if I will be needed on Thursday.

We're finalizing the list of assignments as we speak, and you should be getting details in the next day or so. Unfortunately, the last minute change to the route has us trying to play catch up because in many cases we were starting from scratch. We're counting on having everyone that signed up, and like I said, we'll be sending out info very soon. :-)

Is there still a need for volunteers? I was planning on hiking in on Saturday, but I now know that this is a bad idea and I don't want to F up the rally's standing with land owners for next year. Feel free to PM if so.

Default Low Cost Accommodations for Volunteers

IF folks have been holding off on going to NEFR due to accommodations/hotel costs, I have an 8 person dorm room at the Snow Cap Inn at the Sunday River resort (rally HQ) -- WITH OPEN SPOTS... According to folks plans at this time, I have THREE open bunks. Nothing fancy: bunk beds (reasonably comfortable though), NO A/C (I'll have a window fan), a couple of sinks and toilets and showers... It's always been clean in the past. The PRICE IS RIGHT, THOUGH -- $16 per night!!!! I have it reserved for Friday and Saturday nights. Your suitemates will include: Two Mid-Atlantic NASIOC folks (unless Houstin gets an invite from a team with swanky digs), a guy helping shoot video for RA, two course marshals, and an errant trout fisherman...

Kind of sad at the lack of open spectating for Saturday. Seems like it was a big scramble to get a Saturday event to happen outside Sunday River this year. Hopefully they can impress the new land owners and open up some new spectator locations for 2013. Else I might not go next year. (this will be my 9th year going. No I'm not volunteering, I'm on vacation)

It sounds like they will be back to the old stages next year, it was just a one off scheduling conflict this year so they couldn't use the regular stages.

If you read some of the other postings/news releases/etc. around the Web, the organizers did INDEED have to "scramble" to keep the rally going, but their ability to make quick adaptations is something to be applauded! Long time supporter/land owner, Seven Islands Land Co. has a "last minute" need to restrict the use of their roads, BUT they supported NEFR in their road negotiations with Plum Creek and Wagner Forest Management; both companies manage lands in many states. Plum Creek has approved road access for both NEFR and Rally West Virginia. Wagner Forest has approved road access for NEFR and Susquehannock Trails Performance Rally. We need to support these land owners in their requests for initial limited access. A number of the postings hint at possibly being able to use the best of the old and new roads in the future. Please remember how much work, manpower and money that often needs to be committed to providing free/open spectating. Remember that most forms of motorsports, indeed most entertainment opportunities, are NEVER free -- though they may not require a fee from you... I am a non-vested party, just a fan of rally.

Last edited by STPRRadio; 07-11-2012 at 12:57 PM. Reason: Clear up possible confusion with multi-state nature of Plum Creek and Wagner Forest.

Agreed to the above statement. I'm anxious to see the roads that are being run this year and hope for a "best of both years" scenario.

Tim, I'll see you there!

Remember guys if you use 93 to fill up in NH because you won't find it in the wild of Maine. Also there are already plenty of Maine state police on the highway

Its rare to find it in northern New Hampshire as well. Although last year L.L. Cote in Errol got a special truck of 93 specifically for the event.

+1 for the state police, they are everywhere during the summer. Don't speed!

I don't know if they will this yea though since they aren't getting a special stage and Saturday's events don't go past their shop and gas station :/
