A version with direct fuel injection and twin-scroll turbocharger was introduced in 2012 to the Japanese market for the Legacy GT DIT (direct injection turbo).
it would appear that they already have a setup for the FA20 to be turbocharged before the BRZ hit the shelves! I want one

guess this helps too http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...i-185236.html?

The way the turbo version on the Legacy is setup it wouldn't fit in the BRZ since the turbo is on the bottom of the engine with on a BRZ would be scrapping the ground.

Sorry to burst your bubble but the BRZ STi and TRD FR-S will not be turbo charged, not enough room under the hood. Plus Subaru said it was keeping the FA20 turbo for the Legacy, WRX, WRX STi.

The BRZ will stay N/A

oh, so the FA is going to the impreza. I wonder how that will change the dynamics of those cars.

wonder if the STI will have a FA 25

No it's not going to the impreza. As all articles have stated the WRX an STI are parting ways with the Impreza model and will be their own model.

That's the big debate. Some people doubt Subaru's desire/ability to create a whole new model that isn't just an Impreza-looking WRX/STI, while others believe that Subaru wants to create a WRX/STI that isn't just derived from the Impreza, but is actually performance-oriented from the ground up.

maybe it will be a continual evolution from impreza inspired to a whole new thing. same as how the BRZ and FR-S will become less and less alike as each company takes the cars in different directions.

Why do people keep saying there's "no room under the Hood" for FI? Where have y'all been? There's a ton of room, literally under the hood. This platform has been twin charged even. I've been around a lot of FI FWD cars, many of them have creative FI systems to fit in an engine compartment with far less under hood room than the 86.

A turbo is a bit tricky, but fitting up a SC is straightforward for any experienced tuner.

There isn't any room to place the Legacy's turbo (low and front-mounted).. which was the context of this thread.

The radiator is also tilted, so there isn't nearly as much room in front of the engine as there appears to be when looking at it from the top:

Yeah, you can chop up things and weld in some other braces when you're building a track/drift car (which are the only cars we've seen with turbochargers so far)... but Subaru may have more difficulty doing so with an OEM car.

It's a big unknown at this point in time.

I was referring to general statements like thunderchicken made, I've heard it said many times simply that it's "not possible" at all.
