Default 05 wrx cluster into 02 wrx?

Is this a direct drop-in and if not what needs to be done? Posted this in Intrior and they sent me here...

It's pretty close to a direct swap. The big issue is that the ABS circuit polarity is reversed in 05 as opposed to 02-04. So, the ABS light will always be on if you put a 05 cluster in anything 02-04. It won't actually stop your ABS from working so you could just pull the bulb and be done with it... but to do it right, you might want to just get a 04 cluster.

Well, I already have an 05 on the way. Can I just swap the wires on the harness somewhere?

No, its not a wiring change, the polarity of the circuit is reversed.

How come some people say it drops in without problem and some people say it doesn't work?

This is just the WRX cluster and NOT the STi cluster.

I can't explain why other people would give you bad advice. I've done this swap before, I think I covered the issues pretty thoroughly.

I can't explain it either. Some say the wires are reversed, which for an STi has been confirmed. But, others have also said that they have an 05 in their 02 without incident. I'm looking for an 04 anyways to avoid conflict.

05 works i just did it last night but you need to either pull the bulb or tape over or under it so lights wont show poke a small pin hole in the tape so if your abs light turnes off you know your abs is broken good luck gotta chop the plug male end on the far left side when looking at the cluster its not plug and play but its close i trimmed the nubs off and it plugged in dont forget to cut the b-28 wire so u dont pop fuses and make sure you pull the bz251 seloniod so it dosent buzz and your ready to go
