Did group 3 ever get a chance to run on the West course? I was running on my 3rd night in a row with 4 hours of sleep.. so I went home after I got a BRZ demo ride. That was around 2:30.. but group 2 was still only halfway through with their runs.

Oh, during my demo ride (which was on the West course with Will Taylor) one of the yellow pointer cones through the weird gated slalom had been placed inside the gate. By my final run on the East course several of the cones had moved significantly out of place. I feel so bad for those poor workers.. they didn't know what they were in for at the start of the day.

Yeah, they finally got over there and group 1 finally got to the East Course. The cones were NEVER right on the east course. Every single run, something was out of place. The results are going to be all over the place because we ran a different course pretty much every single lap.

I had a good time and I'd love to do something like this again, but next year.... make us work! The guy running grid had absolutely no clue what he was doing... NO concept of 2-driver cars... and when I tried to offer him advice on how to make it run better I got into a shouting match with him. I will GLADLY work the course next year to make sure A) things run smoother and B) The course resembles the same course we walked in the morning.

About what time did Group 3 run on the West course? I would have liked to stay and finish off. I heard there were timing problems, too. Per original post, do you have any ideas who is going to publish the times?

No idea.... and no idea. My wife worked timing on the east course, so I'll have her email the guy that was doing all the timing. It was probably about 3 when we started because there were some lightning delays on the east course and a minor incident with a Miata and a tire wall

Hope everyone had fun!! Sorry about the timing issues, was the track staff's first time putting on an autocross but I think overall they did a good job! Great seeing everybody out there and I hope everyone can make it out to the next one (may have a format change to alleviate some of the delay issues).

Oh, yeah.. jlukowski.. you might want to watch my video.. specifically the conversation leading up to my 2nd run. If you need transcript, let me know.

Edit: I added a transcript to the relevant conversation..

That was hilarious. I knew I hit hat cone. I looked back and saw it moved a few inches. Those dang cones we're moving all by themselves. I checked, too...and the brake dust is still there. What a mess.

That's dstan. He was in a ST Blue Ridge Pearl 2.5RS and has been campaigning a 'Spec' Civic.

He usually adds plenty of colorful commentary in his own videos, so I asked him (before turning on the camera) to add some to mine.

^ Yup, thought that was him. He usually AXes in our region, as well. But ever since he want to the ST_ Dark Side, we haven't seen much of him.

Since stickies are separated on the mobile format, I just now saw this thread.

All in all, I had a blast. The east course was a ton of fun, especially for me having never participated in an HPDE or track school. I was driving 04trailsti's car, and it felt quite comfortable stretching it's legs through the two dips (fourth gear!).

The demo rides were cool, and for the most part, I appreciated the laid-back nature of the event. It was a nice break from points events.

I was pretty frustrated with that myself, and I also had issues with the west course, too. Seeing pointer cones misaligned in a three gate crossover tends to cost one a bit of their mid-run focus.

I agree about working - I would much rather just suck during a work assignment and know that course layout is consistent and scoring is accurate.

I'd be fine with the CMP workers doing all of the flagging and radio calls.. just let us shag the cones & tally the 'pluses' for them and run start & timing (at our own intervals).

The guy running it is going to have a LOT of auditing to do. On the West course, I was listed as a DNS. On the East course, they said I had 25 runs. Scoring is far from accurate, I think.

Unnecessary. If we're shagging cones we can make calls too. It's not fun to be by yourself having to make calls and grab cones, but it's doable.

I was under the impression that CMP wasn't interested in the circuitcross happening without their workers involved (getting paid). That was just my assumption from the way some things were worded.

I'm not expecting any, given the major scoring issues and variations in run groups.

Yeah.. it's sounding like we'll be lucky to see anything in regards to times.

Oh well.. it was a fun event despite everything. I'm just glad Subaru is going to start supporting their motorsports customers again. When Subaru Challenge died.. and then SOA didn't want to have any more fun with their fans at GTLive.. well, that was very disappointing.

Times are up!

http://www.rjtiming.com/results.html

I actually did better than I expected for my first ever auto-x. Given, I do know the CMP track pretty well, but have never driven my WRX on it. I would have done much better without any stupid cones!

Raw:
62.43 West Course
81.79 East Course (Only got timing on my first 2 runs - if I had another run I think I would have done MUCH better)

And now the fun part... since I'm running in D Stock my PAX times bumped me up to 28th overall with a combined PAX of 118.408

Wish those results had each run's time and a cone count. I know on a few runs I hit cone, but not sure if those played into the results or not.

Here are some of my photos from the event. http://photos.kestrelracing.com/g/2012_subaru_showdown

Overall I had a good time, wish I had some more ponies in my car for those long straightaways, guess I need an STi swap next time :-). Anyways Thanks to Subaru and the organizers for putting on this event.

This doesn't need to be in the stickie section anymore does it?
