PDX Meet (ver 2.0) - Page 5

Great to see Brian again even if he didn't have his new car yet. Hopefully he gets sick so he doesn't have to work Saturday and can go to the meet

. I'll be at Cascade Station Starbucks around 0600 on Saturday getting my coffee. Hope to see a good amount of people there. If we leave by 0630 we could also hook up with the Washington group that is leaving from a rest stop just North of the I5/205 merge

To Ryan and Matt:
Can i suggest we change the meet to another location? Perhaps a place of business that serves food, drink and has a large parking area (In addition BATHROOMS)??

I used to organize car meets in the past and empty parking lots is not that 'fun'. Whereas most businesses would LOVE LOVE LOVE to sanction a club meet at their business, it adds revenue for them and free advertising. It's fun for us as it's way more enjoyable for people to have somewhere to sit and chat while having a bite to eat.

Hanging out in a parking lot in the sun with no where to go(No bathrooms, no eatery or drinks) gets boring and starts to weigh on people. Last meet not many showed due to heat and there is no escape from it either. Most left very early including myself.

Just a suggestion. I can possibly help to find a place. I may know one place called 'Soobies' , wouldn't that be awesome? Scoobies at Soobies meet? haha love it (That place wont work as it has a small parking lot but just loved the name). Just thinking out loud let me know what you guys think. I think we really do need a new location for the summer time. It was nice seeing people by the way.

I see your point, some shade would be nice. We are still allowed to use the garage if it's too hot. This is the most consistent and longest running meet I have been to. Just moving the meet outside was confusing and we lost a bunch of people. I say don't mess with a good thing, meets seem to fall apart when you change locations. It's hot maybe a few weeks a year. Are you sure it was the heat that brought low attendance? I was stuck at work myself. It was hot at the last meet and we had 15-20 cars.

As far as food and bathrooms go, the mall is an easy walk across the lot. We should all walk over and patronize the mall anyway since they are so nice to us. The food court would be a great place to sit and chat while we eat. The meet is also only 2 hours long.

I know you are trying to help, but in the year or so this has been going you have been a few times, I don't think you have a feel for how the meet is. As one of the people who showed up all winter just to keep the meet going I would like it to remains as is. I hope I don't sound like a dick because I don't mean too. I do appreciate your input and suggestions. Maybe we pick a place to eat each week. One problem is most people don't check the forums for updates, they just show up . This is just one guys opinion though. I am not sure how anyone else feels. If there are more people who are unhappy with the location then maybe a move is the answer.

I was just throwing it out there. Just expressing my opinion is all and not looking for you or anyone else to change it if you don't see fit. I do feel however we will get a more consistent following if it were not in a parking lot of a mall out in the far reaches...covered or not. Just not my cup of tea, to each their own I suppose. Hey guys, I actually live fairly close to Clackamas Town Center and I wanna get in on the meets, are they normally mid week or are there any coming up on a Monday/Tuesday? My only days off otherwise I am in newberg working.

You commute to Newberg, yikes. This meet is every other Wednesday. There is a meet at Cobb tuning the first Thursdsy of every month. Usually aren't any Monday or Tuesday.

Yeah, although the commute isn't too bad, I have about half a dozen different routes I can take. Hopefully I will get lucky and have one of the Wednesdays off for a meet so I can bring over my new-to-me 1995 Legacy. It's gonna be my DD/Project/Show car so hopefully after a while I can start showing it off.

First big thing is gonna be a re-spray or matte black wrap after I get the body work done. I haven't decided what I want to do with it completely.
