I'm on 99 pretty much every day, my lift might be for sale in the near future. I'm returning the Legacy to stock and transferring some parts to a new project

Hmm...I'm guessing (judging by previous comments and the trend to lift the outbacks here) that most of you guys would be against lowering one? I've been thinking about lowering mine a bit. I've got an '09 wagon and am desperately trying to figure out what to do with it. It's my daily commuter, so i'm not looking for any performance upgrades (for now) but I want to make it look MEAN!

Any suggestions?

absolutely not, personally im open to all ideas, there is a guy in the legacy owners gallery with a lowered 03 outback and it looks sick. i would check out that gallery too and see if any of them have posted what they are on or just quote the pic and ask them what they are running

my .02 cents:
just find some tien or eibach (i love eibach) lowering springs for your year, springs on their own dont cost that much and you can lower it 1-2 inches easily without ruining your handling (bottoming out or topping out)

anyone else?

while waiting on replies hit up this thread

Haha thank you! For now I've just been looking for some aesthetic pieces. I'm looking for some aggressive looking head/tail lights and I was thinking puddle lights. Some inner lighting would be nice also, and definitely some dark tints.

Unfortunately, the guy who owned the vehicle previously was a jackass and managed to blow out half my h/k speakers! How the hell do you even do that? He must have been pretty special :/

definitely, a friend of mine had an 07 wagon and did all LED tails which were awesome! and i have seen a few amazing looking headlight sets for those (my favorite having 3 little black diagonal stripes on the outer part near the turn signals) they have some really cool set ups for those years.

by puddle lights do you mean those little spot lights on the side that shoot to the ground? if so then YESSSSSS! that would be sick, freakin classy legacy wagon limo status! love it.

you should do some little vinyl overlay tint over your mirror turn signals, ive seen 1 or 2 with it and they look really good, as long as you do it right... ha ha

Yup, I think puddle lights look awesome if done properly. The problem I am having is finding all the parts I want. I just don't know what websites to check and all that fun stuff. I've also checked eBay and didn't have any luck. I'm not sure if they're just hard to find or if I just don't know what I'm looking for. I've never done anything to my vehicles before so I'm just looking for a few tips and ideas at this point. I'll worry about performance later. I just want to look a little classier when I'm driving to class this year

Also, just fyi, I have an '09 Outback, not a legacy. Not sure if that changes anything or makes things more difficult. I really just want to do whatever is possible (within reason) to my station wagon. I was real bummed when I couldn't get the wrx I was after, but the Outback was basically a graduation gift from my dad when he saw how upset I was over the wrx. He thought I just wanted any Subaru, lol, at least his heart was in the right place. Can't exactly complain about a new car, so I just have to do what I can with what I have

still very cool, shouldnt really change much, they make springs for pretty much everything. but you could also probably pick up a set of 09 legacy wagon springs/struts and it would lower it probably 2 inches (to where the legacy's sit)

here lets pick this up in private chat, these guys dont need to see every post. ill add ya!

So i live on the east coast in New England, more specifically Maine, and i can find lowering kits and what not everywhere for my subi, but i want to lift it 3-5 inches and throw on some aggressive AT style tires and wheels. I work at Town Fair Tire so i know what i want, but cant find anything for lifting that high. My only option i see is stacking 1" spacers to achieve what i want, but then i feel security and stability would be a big issue stacking that many... Help?! Plus whats swappable from sti's same year to my subi? Exterior/mods?

IIRC anything over 3" is going to change the geometry of the suspension and cause you issues in the long run. I would go with some King springs, spacers, and AT tires... this will give you a pretty good lift... I believe Vaughn Performance on here can help you in getting a lift kit setup as well... Not sure what year and style subie you have so it hard to tell what is swappable w/ sti parts... any impreza 02-07 is capable of accepting pretty much any sti part exterior wise... Outside that it gets tricky... if you give us more info on what car you have, that will help to get you more info...

WHAT?!!! after the WHOLE OB suspension swap you're going to gut it to go back stock height?
Is there a speed project coming down the pipe?

Lifted about 2" on King Springs with Primitive Rally strut top spacers. Tires are 225/70r16 Yokohama Geolandar AT/S on the stock 16" steelies.

This pic of from before I lowered the rear subframe to center the wheels, and take out some of the positive camber. Lowered it with washers at first, now a Primitive Rally solid billet aluminum spacer block and longer 10.9 bolts holds it in place.

Fairly stout light bar from Primitive Rally with Lightforce Striker 170 lights:

The full sized Yoko spare used to ride on the roof basket... been deflated and stuffed in the wheel well along with recovery gear:

Also, Primitive Rally skidplates under the engine, tranny, and rear diff (not on in this pic).

The winch is in a 2" receiver cradle. So I can stick it on the back of the car for now... need to fab up a 2" receiver mount for the front so I can put it there. I made a 12v 175A fused 4 gauge cable with a quick disconnect that comes out the front, and is zip tied to the light-bar. I also made a 20' extension cable with quick disconnects, I drape it over the roof to power the winch in back when needed. I also made jumper cables on quick disconnects... I can jump a car without opening my hood. Or connect my winch to another car's battery, so it's completely portable now.

Video of the first test, dumpster was full:

Getting dirty:

Getting dirty again!

I think I might have more fun with the lifted Outback than with the lowered STI I traded in for it...

Any lifted 3rd gen owners on here?

I have King springs on mine and the car has a bit of a rake, in terms of stance. I was thinking about adding 3/8" Subtle spacers to the front to help even it out a bit. I was wondering if that combo could lead to CV issues

New updated pics of mine.

Did a kustom 2" snorkel, and Rust-Oleum special satin Hunt Club Green with satin Black bottom.
Still gotta get a rack and make a rear bumper for her as well as a skid plate.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread..

I have a 2001 Outback Sport, and I want to put my XXR 527's 9.75 +20mm on it..
Will Raceland coil overs do the job? This is just my winter beater..
I don't want to spend too much money on it.

Raceland coilovers to lift an outback? That might be a first. Good luck.
