I have recovered a 2008 STI ECU without issues. However you CANNOT do it with the Renesas Tool as it doesn't support the SH7058S MCU properly. You need the latest BETA ECUFlash to do it. It uses different Clock Type ratios vs. previous SH7058F MCUs.

Just connect to the Testpads as usual which on the 2008 ECU are all inline on a proper location rather than scattered all across the board .
