Great to see another AMS product in PPB. If possible could you post a boost plot for the car?

Also I'm in for the debate on target boost vs. stock sleeve v. Pinned, v. Sleeved.

Just a lil update on things...

Had a slight problem that i will address at a later date once we find out what happen

Will be back up and running in no time though!

In the meantime, I am taking my intake manifold/TGVs to the evo/dsm legend Curt Brown(if you dont know who he is, look him up!), who is a local in Pittsburgh for porting of the intake manifold to help top-end as well as clean up the TGVs to make sure they are perfectly matched to the intake manifold!

Wait till you see this stuff!

Thank you!

We are getting everything finished up with the fuel system, installing the ported intake manifold, and a few other things over the next 2 weeks bcz TPG Tuning is moving into their new facility on RT. 22 in Blairesville with an in-house mustang dyno which going to be amazing!

We will be back at the track asap then taking it down to MIR in november :-)

http://www.curtbrownracing.com/ceramic_bearing_8.html

For the last three* years I have been using ceramic* wheel bearings in my cars with amazing results, I was keeping it under my hat for the most part just to hold that extra edge but im getting old and don't need to keep breaking records and chasing fast times.

Used by Nascar, Indy, Rally teams and Top fuel tems for years.

The ceramic ball bearing hubs I use have 1/10th the friction of a steel ball, 60% lighter, *they are 100% round grade 5 Silicon Nitrate, we use special ultra low friction grease, micro polished races. Ceramic bearings will far outlast the factory steel units as they produce nearly no heat or friction, the car WILL pick up MPH and ET at the dragstrip, run more consistant and faster laps on the road course and yield better fuel economy eventually paying for themselves.

Evo's go through wheel bearings rather fast, why not spend a little extra $$ and have a set that will outlast the car and give you an edge everytime you drive the car.

*2003-2006 Mitsubishi Evolutions:
$1649 four all four hubs on an exchange basis with a $200 refundable core charge.
OR.
$2100 shipped for four brand new hubs ready to bolt in.

*
$1550 for 90-94 DSM press in upgrade

2G DSM front special $850 for NEW hubs with ceramic upgrade
Also*ceramic wheel bearings for:
Toyota Supra
Honda S2000
Subaru STI and WRX

Oh yes, me and curt talked about those when i dropped the manifold/tgvs off for him!

Will be doing these over the winter for sure!

Curt's attention to detail is the best i have ever seen, and that shows through the achievements/records he has made in the evo/dsm community!

Ladies/Gents,

Pretty big update...

unfortunately we had somewhat of a problem in my heads

I was driving two weeks ago on my way to class and the car seemed to get quieter than normal, then stopped working.

After getting it to TPG, Nate pulled all the spark plugs out to use a scope to look inside the combustion chambers and seen an eye lash on the rear cylinder, passenger side. After this, he pulled the head of to find that my Kelford intake cam lobe was ground down, had worn a hole through the bucket as well breaking the valve stem which caused the valve to move freely which is why it slightly hit the piston but did not damage it thank god!

After seeing all this, we fully disassembled the rest of the long block to take it to the machine shop to have fully dismantled, thoroughly cleaned incase metal pieces made its way into the block/other head, and reassembled with a complete Ferrea valvetrain assembly from Josh @ Import Image Racing who has been such a big part of this build before this even happened!

We are not clearly sure what happen/what failed so we are not pointing fingers as of now! One thing we are sure of, is that it was not a machining problem!
The machinist is going to be doing a Rockwell hardness test to compare hardness on the cam lobes to see if that is what failed but if not then oh well, and we move on...

It sucks having to do the heads for a second time but it has given me a chance to rebuild even better this time! I ordered everything a would need from Ferrea(competition plus valves, valve guides, stem seals, lockers, retainers and "dual spring" valve springs) and Cosworth blueprinted oil pump instead of the Supertech valvetrain and OEM oil pump!

One thing I will note is the difference in packaging between Supertech and Ferrea! It may not mean much to some people but simple things such as packaging can show a companies dedication to quality...
For comparison, my Supertech valves were wrapped in a plastic and a rubberband! Now check this stuff out!

In other news,

As i posted earlier, I sent my intake manifold and TGVs to Curt Brown @ http://www.curtbrownracing.com/ for porting/polishing my intake manifold, porting out the TGVs and matching them to my intake ports for the best flow possible!

I do not have them back yet but Curt sent a few pictures to Nate as a preview

That has to be frustrating. Assuming your pretty young, how do you afford a car & build like this?

I owned a 2005 sti that i got a deal on when i traded in my 2006 rsx type s, had that for 3 years, bought a longblock, the place that took 2 months to install, it ruined it TWICE and tried making me pay 3k for installing it/shipping it back to sean @ vigilant motorsports to fix the first time after they ruined it, sued them for the price of the longblock, rental car for 2 months, cost of installing that they charged me, etc... sold that sti, used the majority of the money to pay for the difference of the car... I worked at bestbuy(geeksquad autotech) for 2 years and saved every dime possible, worked at another remote starter/stereo installation store for 6 months, sold my Advan RCIII wheels and i was left money from my grandparents who passed away to use for whatever i wanted so i decided to build the car the way i always wanted bcz my grandfather was who got me into cars so it is dedicated in memory of them :-)

A big reason I was able to do all this is def. Josh @ IIR who has been a HUGE HUGE HUGE help!!!
He is such a factor why the car has all the parts on it that it does!!!!
Can never thank him enough!

Also but not limited to...
NATE @ TPG TUNING
JASON @ J&S DYNO
CURT @ CURT BROWN RACING
RYAN @ MOORE PERFORMANCE

$110K in a STi??? The sad realization that you could have purchased a New GTR and have some money left over...
